Playable Byzantines in RFC 600AD

It happens even with that simple modmod for Arabian UP which is supposed to remove religions in conquered cities.

Does anybody know what causes it to crash. Could somebody please tell me how to fix it or if there's a way around it? Please help:confused::confused:

I think that this should be revived. All of the code that has to be modified probably has been, post 135. It's just the you have been defeated sign. Can anyone please figure what is wrong so that the Byzantines are playable.:)

probably something has to go in the dll as well, because like I said this is not a problem only of this code but of others as well.

I'm not sure, but the game crashed because i found Judaism - I Use the 600 start with the files from Post 135.

There is no 600 AD start on post 135, there is only 3000 BC. When you try to play, says that you have been defeated. I'll try to open the dll today, but I'm not certain that I'll be able to.

Does anyone know how to open dll files? Everything that I try does not work.

I believe dll files consist of compiled code. There is no way to open that, you need the source code from Rhye (or maybe he already made it is available for download somewhere). Then the source needs to be compiled the correct way, which I am not sure how it is done (i.e. what compiler is used). In other words, editing dlls is much harder than editing xml or python.

I'm just not certain that the dll is the problem. Could there be something else that has to be modded.
Can you out a little Rhye, you probably know everything that has to be changed.

ijnavy could you post a list of whats been done so far. I'll try and help with this because I think it's a great idea.

It's all in post 135, but here are the details:
Changed 3000 BC start so that Byzantines start in it.
Made the Dynamic civ names in XML, though many people would disagree on them.
Most of the work was in Python.

Spawn 390 AD, turn 140.
Flip zone: Northern Balkans, Asia Minor, and Levant.
I am almost certain that these are the UHV that I programmed:
1. Constantinople most cultural city in 1000 AD.
2. Control Egypt, Carthage, and Rome by 1000 AD.
3. Control Balkans, Asia Minor, Levant, and Egypt in 1500 AD.
Unique power: The power of Absolutism (instead of power of emperor which sounds like Egypt's): No civil war.

That is stupid. The Byzantines had more civil war than any state in history, even more than the medieval italians!
Plus, they should have to spread christianism in 12 cities without any religion by 1000 instead of the cultural goal.
They should only spawn if both romand Greece had collapsed

I agree with nothing personal.

What's the difference between no civil war and anarchy? India already doesn't experience anarchy.

civil war is when a civ collapses.

That's what I thought. Definately a lame UP. I often see the Byzantines collapse anyways when I take Constantinople.

I believe that is hard -coded into the game: Byzantines collapse when Constantinople falls.

Would a better unique power be:

The power of the capital city (although that does sound a bit lame):

Free embassy in Constantinople with every civ upon contact.

Over a longer period of time. Except if you want to count all that papacy feuds, in wich case you'd have to count the patriarch feuds, and then you'd never get out of this mess!
The Byzantines had the power of bribing their foes, esp in the late years when their military was almost nonexistent!
