Please Read: Welcome to the C-IV GOTM

I assume you have version 1.74 of Civ4? Please can you download and run the Assets Checker from this page. Copy the results and post them here, or PM a copy to me.

Oops... I forgot I installed the clock mod & detail manager mod. Sorry for bothering, tks for your help. Now it runs quite well :)

Hi, i got some problems with the Buffy stuff, it gives me the warning about not being able to save files when i start buffy. i have done the steps necessary according to your help guide, and tried that UAC stuff it did't remove the warning.
How do you pm btw cant find it anywhere, do you need to be in my contact list or what?

Welcome to GOTM. :)

In order to PM, you must have 5 posts and have been here for 5 days. Please see forum rules.
Newly registered members may not use signatures, e-mail forum members, post visitor messages, use the private messaging system or join or create social groups, until they have been members for 5 days AND have at least 5 posts.

You do not say what operating system you are using? If it is Win7 or Vista, please follow the instructions in the HoF forum linked here.

Not sure what you mean by the UAC stuff?
Nor about saving files, do you mean it does not allow you to save a game?

yay this will be my fifth post then ^^. i have been registered for a year or so tho.
its win7 and http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ4/mod.php?show=vista is what i have done. when i start it gives a warning saying it wont be able to save settings. in the previous page ronnie mentioned something about user acess control , myn isnt the same; its not just on or off, but 4 steps , placing it in the lowest one didt change things. I have no problems ingame at all.

Hi

Your submission indicates that you have not set the UAC permissions correctly. You should have seen warnings, each time you started a session, telling you that your game would not be eligible for HoF or GoTM, and advising you to follow the instructions for Vista/Win7.

As I only run Windows XP (and only do so when I absolutely can't avoid it :mischief: ), I can't advise on the finer points of these instructions, but I'm sure there are other players here who can help.

Please try this. Right click on your screen icon for Civ4BTS and select properties. Then click the Security Tab and within the Security Tab, click on Advanced.
You should see something like this:

attachment.php

Your permissions should look like what is in the screen shot.
If they do not, please click on Change Permissions and you can edit them.
You must be using an administrator account to change settings. If you cannot change them, chances are that you are not using an administrator account when playing and you must do so.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i see the warnings as i mentioned and my UAC settings look just like yours leif and im on an admin account. somehow the mod isnt allowed to write into the customassets folder in my documents, since it creates folders but no files. And ive also done those steps described in that help page. One question though does buffy rely upon windows registry?

Taking this to PM, since it is of little public interest.

Sorry for being ********, but are there any mods acceptable to run along with HOF? Like enhanced advisors, for example.

Tks for your guide. From what I read, there's only Buffy allowed, and it's only for BtS :crazyeye: Guess I'll have to upgrade to BtS, otherwise playing Vanilla Gotm without any help is too tiresome :(

The second link takes you to the HoF Mods for Vanilla and Warlords. The list of enhancements include:
Autolog (defaults to disabled)
End turn Text (defaults to enabled)
Exotic Foreign Advisor (defaults to disabled)
Modified Special Domestic Advisor (defaults to disabled)
Civ4lerts (defaults to disabled)
Specialist Stacker (defaults to disabled)
Clock Turn Text (defaults to disabled)
Reminder (defaults to disabled)
Mapfinder (defaults to disabled)
Auto start file creator (defaults to disabled)
Auto exit file creator (defaults to disabled)
Regenerate Map Hot-Key [ALT-G](defaults to disabled)

The enhanced advisers are included, aren't they?

Omg  I didn't notice it though having played some HOF games  Could you pls give me a link to a thread that explain every single aspect of these enhancements? I'm a little bewildered with the number of options available :crazyeye:

Lots of links to the included mods and to descriptions and support for the mods are given here

Tks for your info, but I still have some questions about Mapfinder: what is it and how to use it? (regarding this issue, I've followed quite some links, like http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=213555, but they all led to the very same thread in an endless loop and don't give me the answer at all :crazyeye:) With no clue, I've tried using MF but failed miserably :(

Mapfinder is a tool for rolling successive random maps until you produce one that meets a specified set of objectives.

It is of use if you want to play in the HOF tournament, because that allows you to play on your own random map. It is not relevant to Games of the Month, since we supply everyone with the same map for each game.

Ah I see, tks :goodjob: But there're more questions, hope you'll help me answer ;)
1/ There's an option of "Test range" in MF's Rule builder. I wonder if it will make MF search all the tiles in the specified radius included fogged tiles, or only visible tiles?
2/ I'd like to include all of those wonderful enhancements from HOF to my mod (which literally means copy the entire HOF directory :p), except the feature of checking whether the game is eligible for submission or not. Then what files should I delete or modify to achieve that?

I suggest you ask in the HoF mod discussion thread. We just use the mod in the Game of the Month. We don't mess with it, and we don't even use the Map Finder facility.
