Pokémon X and Y : here comes Gen VI

That's basically what Gary says to you anyway.

And Gary was the last rival who actually made you sweat. Silver, May/Wally, Barry, Cheren and Bianca, and Hugh (and N?) are all laughable trainers. They're not rivals, they're pests. Gary, apart from the Pokemon Tower battle (and even then only because you weren't likely to go up there until after you'd cleared the Casino), is the most challenging trainer you face, short of a specific gym leader situation due to typing.

Personally, I've had way more trouble with Cynthia - both in her Gen IV and Gen V incarnations - than against Gary ever. Her Gen IV incarnation remain the only time I actually failed an Elite Four run , and her Gen V incarnation required me to come the closest I ever did to building a competitive battling team to go against her.

That freaking landshark could probably take half of Gary's team without breaking a sweat.

Cynthia required me to game the system. Throw out best pokemon, get killed by Garchomp, throw out sacrifice pokemon, use revive/hyper potion, get killed by Garchomp, repeat etc

And if Garchompbwas her only though critter... But lol no

Yes. Cynthia was pretty mean (as are the Elite Four the second time around in HG/SS). All those post-game super trainers are incredible, but that's just extra fun, I don't think it's a substitute for a true rival.

Yep, reminds me of the Lance battles in RBY. Or hell, any of the Lance battles in any game, he's consistently a beast. I guess that's to be expected from a Dragon type trainer!

Cynthia was enormously mean even when she wasn't a post-game trainer, though - she remains the thoughest regular league champion to date (Alder in BW doesn't count, because you only fight him on Elite Four rematches).

I'll agree that as far as plot, the games haven't given us a proper rival since Gen I.

I didn't think she was as challenging in Platinum (which is my only encounter with Gen IV), but that was partly because I went in there with a Garchomp myself, and we had a Garchomp showdown. I didn't even think Adler was that difficult, Ghetsis' Hydregion gave me more trouble by itself than anything Adler threw at me.

Wally as a rival made me feel bad. His character was so well-designed pathetic in a resonant way. An interesting trainer.

A rival, though, needs to overpower you. Silver - well, I don't remember what he did beside stalk Prof. Elm. Gary was such a delicious bastard. 10/10 would hate again.

I could never take Silver seriously because my sister named him BEEF in her runthrough. It stuck.

I think they actually toned back down her level in platinum due to complaints she was too though in DP.

I liked the addition on rotation and triple battles in gen V though. They are different battles and take a different kind of strategy.

Oh god is it ugly. Designed for 12-year-old girls, but them girls like Umbreon too. Why this? xD

Anyways... I wonder what type it is. It looks very Normal-ish to me.

The foreign names come from nymph. It is the lightest Eevee.

I think it's a flier.

I hate Eevee and its evolutions to begin with; one of the few good aspects of Gen V was no new Eeveelution. Needless to say, I am extremely dissapointed with this relevation, and I have pretty much lost faith in this Generation already.

Seriously, another stupid furball evolution? :wallbash:

Arg. I think after Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon they should have stopped. There are just too many to keep track of. And this new one might be a flying type? So a pokemon that is normal suddenly learns how to fly?

It looks like a normal type to me. It doesn't have any wings or anything, dunno how it could be a flying type. Could also possibly be a dragon type, I think that's the only traditional "special" type that isn't represented by an Eeveelution yet.

I don't think it would be normal. What would be the point of evolving a normal type eevee into a normal type eeveelution? According to Bulbapedia, it is the lightest eevee evolution, so it is possible it could be a flying type.

Its animations are kinda airy. I could see it being "flying" type if it was air incarnate - ish. I will vomit if it is a dragon - seeing that I'm already vomiting, of course, I don't think many would care.
