POLL: What is the first Civ you will play as? and so forth...

Linked to DevCs thread concerning "What is the first Civ you will play as?" I decided to make a poll to see on the spot which Civ might be a Civfanatics favourite.

Unfortunately the poll options are restricted to 10, therefore there are 2 threads here...

(Random is "R" - Greece is ONE option because of restriction - otherwise I would end up at 21 )

You CAN post, WHY you wanna play this specific civ, because I would be interested to hear the reason. Just voting is great as well!
Furthermore it would be cool to post the settings you plan to play on (thought about making another Poll about that but I think it would be too much...)

Civ:
I'm going random civ and see what the game has to offer me
Speed:
standard speed although I usually play epic
Map:
standard continent map although I usually play huge maps.
Difficulty:
Prince (level 4 out of 8) (which is 1-2 levels below my normal difficulty (was it King/Emperor in CiV?)

Why?
Civ:
Random might force me to dig into certain specific advantages I would otherwise might have delayed for later. If not, fine as well... Furthermore it's fun and I like the Random option always.

Speed:
Map:
I will use the first game to give the devs time to adress unavoidable balance issues concerning speed and maps - I think I need quite a while for my first playthrough - I'm a slow player usually and this might even get worse with CiVI, especially for the first game(s)...

Difficulty:
Even if AI is better than in the preview I think I'll be good. Gives me an easy entrance to explore the new mechanics and dive into the civilopedia and learn alot of the different interactions between them. I'll even use the advisor for more than I need to point me towards different entries...

I plan on playing France first, but not because it's my favorite. I'm playing it first because Catherine is the first name on the alphabetical list.

At the time, due to the transition there was a limit of only 10. It has since been restored back to the pre-migration limit. It was in fact this set of polls (this one the A-G; and the other H-Z) that led to it being fixed.

Difficulty: Chieftain or equivalent

I love wonders and building, so China is perfect for my playstyle.

Civ: Random. I plan to play all of the civs, but in no specific order. After 1st game, I'll not play that civ again until after I've played all the others.
Speed: Normal
.Size: Large (10 civs, 20 CSs if same as V)
Map: Continents
Level: Prince

I almost always play large and continents; and I don't try to play for quickest win, etc. I figure the game is balanced primarily toward normal speed and continents and play that unless I'm specifically playing a map just to see how a specific civ plays on it (e.g. islands for a "water-based" civ, although almost never on my first game with that civ). I want to try all the civs and how they relate to the new mechanisms of the game. I also always play wide, so I'm really looking forward to what appears to be the elimination of the major penalties for going wide in V.

I get the feeling America is supposed to be the generic civ this time around but I can't help but play Rome first. It's always been the Ryu civ for me.

The very first time I played Civ I. I played Roma (color white). My civ died about 500 BC. I had one city near the Italian boot and a chariot probably near India.

So Roma it will be again, as traditions has had it for II, III, IV, V, and now VI.
