Inca - 83.8%
Ottoman Turks - 76.3%
Mali/Ghana/Songhai - 47.1%
Georgia - 35.4%
Carthage - 22.5%
Italy - 21.7%
Zulu - 17.9%
Byzantine Empire - 12.5%

Thanks all! We'll see over the next few weeks how well we can read the mind of Firaxis. :mischief:

Watch all of those choices not making it into Rise & Fall.

Last civs will be Inca, Carthago, Ethiopia/Zulu and black horse unexpected civ.

Portugal, Maya, Celts, Babylon are impossible because "their" city states still exist in RAF screenshots.

Now, I am wondering if I am the only one who thinks how...

...Ottomans and Byzantium will be double DLC same way Persia and Macedon was.

Think about it. Firaxis already did this once (and in civ5 as well, with Spain and Inca). There are no two other civs which could be thematically linked this way. Both are very desired so that would be bonus to DLC sales. And "geographic balance" requires some of remaining slots to be devoted to Americas and Africa, decreasing free slots even more...

That would be pretty cool

Carthage won't have Hannibal Barca as the leader though. He's still a Great General. Dido again?

Goddamnit.

They could have Hamilcar Barca though, he was Carthaginian ruler and general during First Punic War. Maybe he could provide more interesting diplomatic agenda.

Anyway, you just weakened my theory a bit ;)

I keep hoping for carthage as a city in the Phoenician "civilization"

The Phoenician leaders we know of aren't terribly interesting though. :p One, Hiram, supplied timber for Solomon's temple. And I don't remember what the others did.

Ethopia and Italy. Austria and (Hungary OR HRE). Carthage and Phoenicia. Assyria and Babylon. Different themes, but they could certainly be thematically linked.

I would love some thematically-linked DLC civ packs.

Of course I'd love any DLC with new civs.

Firaxis has a lot of ground they still need to cover and XP2 is not going to cut it.

Ah, you'll never now, we already have three greek leaders, why not add a fourth one? :p Nobody expects the Greek Inquisition (or assimilation)
The Minoans weren't Greek. :p Also, we currently have four Greek leaders: you forgot Cleopatra. ;)

Neither does anyone else: they're names on a wall, pretty much. :p Oh, and Ḥiram (Phoenician: Ḥīrom) also supplied skilled laborers in addition to cedar of Lebanon. :p

It would be lovely to get pirate Civ capital could be Port Royal :)

Only real contenders for something like that that I know of are the Barbary Coast pirates and really they were Ottomon client states and the very short lived Nassau Republic.

It would be fun to have Morocco with a piracy UX (led by Moulay Ismail). Give them an ability/UI for living in the desert and a piracy UA for example. You would rarely find an appropriate map that they really shine (except tsl).

So basically, give Morocco the Civ5 Ottoman ability?

I don't think Morocco is famous for capturing ships and using them. And I never liked that ability.
My ideas:
- either a bonus for pillaging trade routes (maybe without declaration of war but a slight diplomatic penalty)
- since they captured so many slaves, maybe a chance for more population when winning battles/sea battles
- or a bonus for pillaging coastal tiles (random chance for builders?)

Your ideas sound interesting. Not sure how Moroccans would react to this portrayal of their country though. :p

They don‘t shy away from this past. It‘s present in museums etc. and you can even visit the huge jail in Meknes that hold more than 20k prisoners, mostly captured on campaigns.

Wouldn't Algeria, and maybe Tunisia also make sense for this kind of Civ? Those three countries had Barbary Corsairs/pirates? I remember reading about a brief conflict the American government had with barbary corsairs, taking place during Jefferson's presidency, I believe.
