[NFP] Portugal Reveal Video Discussion

It didn't exist back then, so I'm also baffled. Baffling me even more is that he references Odin when he literally murdered Pagan believers. I think.
The Catholic who favors Protestantism 500 years before the Reformation and swears by Odin and offers runestones as an envoy gift. He is a mystery. Maybe he's a religious hipster: "I was a syncretic Protestant before it was cool." :smoke:

One edit? what about Second Edit?

[fixed]
You still need to add the numbers of the Yields, Sight Range, percentages, etc.

I never add those, as there is always changes in the those specifics between announcement and release.

Aaand, Torre de Belém is still called Torre de Belén there, if you want another edit opportunity :mischief:

What is a sneaky third edit among friends

Hey, @Boris Gudenuf, what do you think of the Portugal Civ now? Do you still think it's a boring Trade Civ? Not trying to bash you here, btw, just seeing if you like it now.

Apologies if it has already been discussed, but is the Feitoria perhaps the only unique improvement it is possible to capture?

As they explicitly cannot be removed, if you captured a city which had a Feitoria, you would surely inherit the Feitoria?

What if Portugal is eliminated from the game? Do the Feitorias persist?

I kinda love this?

Gold civs for me always mean science victory, and to get even a tiny little science bonus just makes it that much more convenient.

Which governor do you pick first for Portugal? I tend to be bad at that. Regardless of who I'm plaing my first thought is *slaps Pingala* you can get so much free stuff out of this

It would be hilarious if they stuck around.

"No one can defeat the spice trade... not even killing Portugal kills Portuguese monopolies."

Another feitoria question: Can only Naos build them? In the infographic, it seems to imply so, but that's a fairly small window...

You can always save a Nau or two un-upgraded and use them for building Feitoria in later era. Or just avoid the Ironclad tech until you have all the possible Feitorias built.

I do imagine that a normal Worker can built it, though.

I'm personally looking forward to Portugal, despite being one of the first naysayers.

I just realized, with their gold income, they'll just be buying Navigation Schools outright. It also helps Universities are towards the top of the tech tree.

I hope Spain gets revamped. I like the idea of Spain, but the fact that Conquistadors, Missions and Naval stuff is all at wildly differing places in the tech tree...

So if I'm reading the Feitoria description right, I believe the +4 Gold, +1 Production it provides on its own is as an improvement, and thus goes to the owner of the city where it's planted, yes? So, while frustrating if Portugal slaps one down on you, at least there's a decent benefit from working it, plus it seems like, if indeed Oil is discovered underneath it, you'll immediately start to stockpile it upon discovery, no?

that is my understanding on the tool tip

That's not at all how Joao is meant to be pronounced, yes? Who were all the people waiting for Sean Bean to mispronounce it, too? :p
The pronounciation unfortunately is really off... I wouldn't understand it without context.

Portugal looks awesome, can't wait to play next weekend!

So, the Feitoria's bonus to Trade Routes...do you suppose that +5 Gold and +1 Production is per Trade Route and per Feitoria? Cuz that would add up fast.

Yes it is, but it is 4 not 5. In the video they show a trade route before and after adding two, and the gold goes up by 12 = (4+4)*1.5
