I would like to see BNP discussion allowed, maybe on probation. There aren't any nazi posters around; so I think it would be a fairly sensible discussion. I for one would like to start a thread about them.

Nope. The large majority of the political discussions can (and do) happen with limited mod requirements. BNP topics create so much emotion that those require too much mod work for what they're worth.-✩-;8579084 said:

I was wondering that myself. We have several openly racist individuals on CFC, some of whom I have seen open threads on some charged topics. The BNP is certainly no better or worse than other far right groups, yet I don't see a ban on them. Seems somewhat strange to single them out.

Unfortunatly I mean the second one - I was slightly put out by the BNP talking about military virtues, so I was happy to hear about them. It got better when 'Andy McNab', the SAS author, asked the BNP for his books back when they wanted to auction them.

Threads about death of a stormfront poster, threads about CFC OT turned me into a fascist, and BNP discussion is banned. Does not compute. We need to fight racism not encourage it, my 2p.
Fourth'd. Plus, at the very least, even if the policy is to stand, it's something that should be clearly spelled out somewhere - so we don't get confusing assertions that some unrelated things like "all political parties in the UK" or "BP British Petroleum" or whatever are banned from being discussed.
I'm with this. We either have to outlaw talking about all fascists, nazis etc or allow the same, IMO

The problem has been in the past that a couple of pro-BNP posters kicked up a huge fuss about the rest of us saying what we think of them.
The view that the BNP are a bunch of racist Nazi's is a mainstream political viewpoint, as proved by question time and all 3 main parties sharing disgust at the party.
And Nick Griffin's dodjing of questions, attempts to laugh points off and downright refusal to discuss his views on the holocaust claiming they were illegal (despite Jack Straw, the UK's justice minister, saying he wouldn't be prosecuted for saying them) just goes to prove the point.
Fact is, if we are going to debate the BNP, then their has to be acceptance on the part of all that us anti-fascists are going to voice our opinions, and do so in ways that pro-BNP posters aren't going to like. Because lets face it, pro-BNP supporters don't like anyone else's view of the party.
If the feeling is that it would be better to not have threads where accusations of racism and Nazism will be levelled at the BNP with total sincerity and believe that those acusations are true, then I agree that the ban on BNP threads should remain.

From the stories I heard, any discussions on the BNP stirs up more emotions in the thread than discussions about George W. Bush, US Republicans, and Fox News. In comparison, Bush threads are a ripple in an ocean while BNP are a tsunami.

There does seem to have been something of a spate of them in the last few days, which has rather made an arse of the law.
The kicker for me was that the headline of every national paper was a vitiation on the theme of "Griffen is a scumbag". Left and right, tabs and broadsheet everyone thinks he is a greasy bugger.
