Post T&l Capable Cards With 'black Terrain' Here

We should compose a list of all graphics cards that meet requirements but still have the black terrain and 'Cheshire cat' leader issue in one post. If we can show this is a significant issue in cards which *should* work, Firaxis is more likely to be convinced that a patch is necessary for this issue.

Listed on the back of the box as "minimum requirements"
MapVisible change works, makes terrain visible
Also tried Omega Drivers, didn't do much.

It seems that the Radeon 7500 is the major card with issues. (funny, considering that it is specifically listed on the system reqs.)

How can I find out what video card the comp uses? I have a 1 1/2 year old comp and it's doing this....

(My dad just says it's the ram.... NOT. Shows what he knows... It's always the ram and it's Never a bug.....)

Radeon Mobility 7500 here

Got it to show extremely bright terrain instead. Shows CORRECT colours at a certain zoom and in the city display.
Bread only resources also apply
(luckily I got a desktop where it is running flawlessly)

Some of my friends got rid of the black terrain with new drivers, but these were GF 420 and 440 go; they still have the Floodplains visible in the fog of war and have also this bread only city screen

ATI Radeon Mobility 9200, only have the black terrain issue with official drivers, which are dated 2003 since almost no notebook manufacturer cares to update video drivers for their products (and honestly I don't know how legal this thing can be...).

I tried installing some Catalyst 5.10 drivers adapted for Mobility that I found on the net. The black terrain problem is still there although less frequent, though the 'Cheshire cat' leaderhead problem showed up...

Although this card is T&L compatible, it does not have shading capabilities. I'm guessing this is a large reason it will not work.

T&L is proprietary to nVidia. ATI cards emulate T&L...that may be part of the issue.

T&L is actually just a lot of complex math algorithms; nvidia moved these to the card processor to take some of the load off the system CPU. There is software out there that may do t&L emulation for cards that do not have the capability - though this will slow your entire system down as now you are asking the system CPU to do the work instead of the card. If your CPU is not high end, this slowdown can be significant.

I have a radeon IGP 345m which I'm told is the equivalent to a radeon 7500 or better. I've downloaded the 5.1 catalyst drivers but am still getting the black screen and floating head problems.

Um I don't have T&L on my card I have a Intel 128mb card. I thing maybe just those with 64mb cards don't work without T&L
