Hmm, I suppose we can replace her with the next best score in her league.

Though I imagine she doesn't really need to be replaced, does she?
 
I think what ended up happening was we ended up with two groups of four, so it ended up okay.
 
My games are long gone already, so I might throw in my feeling about the tourney...

Many thanks to Narz for setting it up, it was refreshing to play chess again. :goodjob: I liked the format of the tourney, but there is one thing to improve for next time : the schedule. Several months to complete a few games on the Internet isn't very entertaining in the end. I know many have a RL (I have too) and can't commit to a game much, but sometimes I hadn't seen a turn for days and days... Hopefully we can think of something next time. Apart from that, it was nice and all. :)

And hopefully we get to see a superb final. I haven't following the games lately, but I have 2 names in mind, let's if that's what I'm thinking of.

I agree with your criticism. Actually I was thinking of having a speed chess tourny next. Conceivably this could all be done within a week or two.

Two groups of ten perhaps in a double-round robin (everyone plays everyone twice, once as white, once as black) in 5-minute speeds games and the two champs (one from each division) face off in a best of 5 matchup (possibly more than 5 if there are any draws, first to win 3). :)
 
Cool. I kind of want to start it now but I figure it's better to wait until this one is over (don't want to take away from the finals), plus I'll be away for a couple weeks starting in a few days.

I don't think you have any reason to worry about that. Euphemistically speaking, I am dissatisfied with my recent games.

I have the same problem with bathsheba666.
He even turned down the offer of a draw a couple of moves ago, and now he seems to have shut down. I am a bit reluctant to claim the game as I only have a clearly better (contrary to won) position, on the other hand this game might take a while, so I think the tournament director should have a say before I proceed in any way.
 
If luceafarul and col are done with their three games, I think we can start the finals now. I believe it was a three-game match (though a four-game or two-match might be more fair).

I'm still playing against nc, and IIRC I have a mate in one right now, but I can't get on Queen Alice.
 
Took a look at that game, and he resigned already.
 
Oh, well, y'see, that's what happens when I can't get on Queen Alice. :p

So I went 2-1 this round. Oh well. best of luck to our finalists.
