England!
Nations Name: The Britannian Republic/ Brittannian
Capital City: Londonium....located where you think it is.
Leader: Imperator Caligula.
Place Names:
Eboracum: Latin for York...
Societal Structure:
Consul/Imperator/First Citizen:The Military Autocrat leader of the Empire( I am aware that the nation is called a republic, but I'm basically romanized england). Just like RL roman emperors, this IS NOT passed done from father to son, but to who ever the Imperator or the senate (if their is no incumbent Imperator at the time) wants. granted...the Praetorian Gaurds have to approve of the Imperator first...else he will find a not so nice feeling dagger in his back.
Senator: A legislator....not powerful at all, at least from the stand point of being a senator...HOWEVER, they tend to be RICH. And money = easier time funding legions = military power...and the republic is a military autocracy.
Praticians : The upper class. Rich. Affluent. Allowed to be a senator.money is consider a powerful thing to have, despite the military being a somewhat quick way up. Course, those riches can be used to obtain military power...a civil war would defenitely be a bit of a issue here. NOTE: there are several high up positions a Pratician IS FORBIDDEN to take in the bureaucracy. Getting here simply requires having a lot of money. The classes are monetary-based
Equites: the middle class. Not dirt poor, but not super rich. Some of the prarician forbidden positions are these guys ONLY. The republic would break without these guys.
Proles: dirt poor to just below just well enough off. The remember of the Pratician forbidden positions go to these guys. Let's face it, there are thing the Proles know better then the upper class. So let the guys who know how do it.
The Bureaucracy: A good way to gain power. This is why no nobility system exists here.(yes, those upper class people are not nobles.) without these guys...their would be no republic.
The Military: another way to power. The sword and shield of the republic...trains night and day.
Praetorian Guard: special mention here. These guys are the Gaurds of the Imperator. These guys are our version of the kingmaker...as these are the guys who make sure no one assassinates you...unles you don't keep them happy...in which case, THEY WILL assassinate YOU! Therefor, being the commander of this is one of the highest honors. And makes you nearly as powerful as thy Imperator. If not more. Therefor, if you coup the Imperator and keep command of the Gaurd...you would have the loyality of your gaurd being their commander, AND the empire as your plaything...
History: A long, long, long, long, long, long, long time ago on river bank not so far away, if your a Londoner...though for this poster a 9 hour flight away, Their was a cruel king and Queen...well, the king was powerless in the face of the Queen. She had....wait wrong story....no never mind right story...a unsateable greed, and taxed the people endlessly...the people rebelled. it was REVOLUTION. And so, the people declared a republic when they won. For some time it stood, but the gap between the wealthy and poor widdened, as we expanded...eventually the Impetator Gauis took power in a bloody civil war.
