PRE-NES THREAD: ImmacuNES IIB: Emperor of the Fading Heavens (Redux)

Right up on the first page, you say we will be using the "Standard Julian Calender", however the Julian Calander is Standard only within the Eastern Orthadox Church.
EDIT: Oh, and by the Berber People.

Fool, there is but one Orthodoxy; the Pancreator deems it. These splinter sects and heathen cults are a sinner's distraction, and a path of evil that leads only to the corruption of the symbiots. We shall use His calendar, handed down from Immaculate high.

Consevably, and there isn't a whole-lot of diffrence between the Julian and Gregorian Calanders, at least for what where doing.
Also: Burn the heretic, kill the (unstable/uncontrold)mutant, purge the unclean!

When are the votes for Regent and who is running? Sir Eekin ponders silently.

so I can't replace the monks unit(s) with a monastery as I asked earlier?

I changed a lot of the starting assets. You'll have to develop it; sorry.

I should watch Apocalypse Now sometime... good luck with Killgore Circuit!

Renaming the swamp-faction to... House Naprous (it was just Kilgore you wouldn't let me rename right?). That's a pretty name worthy of a first loyal then cosmetics-producing and cowardly house.

Okay- it makes a bit of work for me to find all references to house albrino and change it... I'm inclined not to put the effort in but maybe...

oops- you are right- will fix.

Between update zero and one. Update zero will occur when we move from pre-NES to NES. I need to work on a few things.... (like maps and stats- maps can lag a bit but the stats have to be up to date before we launch).
Your first set of orders will include your votes for reagent.

Thanks a lot for letting me have my old FS character in the game!!
And the name-change was very kind of you too. : )

OOC: Does anybody know what grows/is exploited well in a swamp? All I've thought of so far are berries (they suck the moisture out of the surrounding air rather than the ground).
To Immaculate: Are there any modified freighters that serve as cattle class for colonizing (lesser merchants, adventurers, etc.)? I suppose if they do they'd be with the Coachmen...

... I remember I used to buy expensive tickets and during voyages one had to pay for proper water. The community supply would inevitably be poorly recycled. 't was like 'bullets or comfort'? :'( It's so good to own a yacht...

no problem

remember also that is being flooded by sea water. so its brackish.

Most freighters could be used to move people but the life-support would take up lots of room and be expensive- even a one-off application.

If players want to think about renaming their unit groups or describing a government policy, i would encourage them to do so.

I guess you could grow clams in that water Totoene.

You could contact the 'authority'- they specialize in dikes and levies and draining projects- that is their original business model (though they've much outgrown that now).

Taro root and Sago Palm are the two staples that come to mind. They both need to be supplemented with protein, so add fish, eel, and shellfish. Wetlands are excellent habitats for migrating birds, so you could easily have a seasonal hunt for meat and feathers.

By the San Fransisco bay (a similar climate, I'd imagine), there are a lot of dune grasses and succulents near the bay's edge. The grasses tend to be reddish in color, and the succulents are flowering ground cover. In Fantasy Future, I imagine they could grow fruit.

Hope this helps!

For the birds, given Errovus's nature, you might have to import some, thought.

But of course, wasn't some house on Errovus Secundus assassinated update 1?

Be paranoid.... be very very paranoid. :p

Okay so I was wondering about policies. Mainly how many can we start with? i.e. everyone 1 policy or 2 for major houses 1 for minor, 1 per action character?

As for battle group names will have them for you later today along with policy or policies for you to critique/use.

1 unified policy for every house, I believe.

Some questions, considering I didn't participate in the last game:

Do we speak in the names of our houses, or our characters? Since the sceptres allow us to communicate, can we only contact other characters? How is character disloyalty handled?

How rapidly are the suns dimming? 0.1% per year? 1%? 10%? (Actually, 10% per year would make for a very short game :P ) Does the church condemn all technical progress (i.e. research), or just tech that is used? What can we share with other factions? Can we trade/steal tech?

How long ago was Emperor Vladimir assassinated (hours/days/years)? Is there an imperial bureaucracy to maintain order until a new emperor is elected, or is there a power vacuum? Which houses are in charge of the eye/Garrison/fleet until the next election?

Sorry in advance if some of these are covered on the first page - I read through it once, but I can miss things.

Seon is correct- you start with one policy. I believe I will allow more policies as the game continues (probably post turn 6) but it will largely be based on role-playing, diplomacy, stories and actions… not specific choices.

I guess characters. You should only contact other characters. This is a good point but I am not going to come down to hard if you speak for your house-it will be assumed a character is speaking on behalf of your house.
Ultimately character disloyalty will come from taking actions opposite to their personal morales or loyalty. So many characters are very religious so acts of heresy will piss them off…

The fading of the suns has not been quantified by the noble houses. Closer to 0.1% compared to all other numbers put forward- probably much less than that.
The church wants to protect the souls of its flock. Technology that puts them at risk are particularly repulsive (man-machine interface, gene splicing). They are a bit hypocritical though- looking the other way if you are friendly to them and using it as an excuse to back-up their diplomatic power when possible.

lets say update zero will address that… but lets say somewhere between 2-8 months. I think this is different than last time . There is an imperial bureaucracy- it’s the imperial regency without the regent. I think I will assign Eye/Garrison/Fleet at update zero.

Good questions everyone- these are obviously things I need to consider.
