Radio NES: And all the Gods Fell Down

Hola guys, Radio here, and I’ve decided to create my own NES because I happen to like reading stories and I figure that this has got to be the easiest way to read a bunch of them at once :p. This NES will be story driven, so if you don’t like writing, don’t join. This thread is for signups and the like, an actual thread will be posted later for the story itself.

Spoiler The backstory :

The rain lashed the rooftops, thunder roared in the distance and lightning split the sky. Then, The Cataclysm happened. The heavens opened up and spewed forth the gods and angels from above and set them upon the earth.

The gods looked around, they were scattered in a small area. Many tried summoning the powers they had loved so dearly. Each time, curses in many tongues were shouted as their powers failed them. The gods had become almost human.

They looked at the charred landscape around them, it was still raining heavily and flaming bits of rock from their crash were being put out. The exiled gods spread out to find evidence of what happened and where they were.

They were in a land like no other, a land long marred by war and disease, but was then in the throes of a great golden age of peace and prosperity. A land with disaster after disaster befalling it. The last one almost wiped out human civilization on the planet as the meteors tore into the largest cities. One of the gods turned around and saw a formerly bright and shining city, now dull and busy rebuilding. Soon all of them turned around and trekked towards the city.

The group of gods arrived at the city, but they were not alone, already society had reestablished order under a warlord of sorts, and visitors were regarded with suspicion. Suddenly, gods began to fall, neat little holes appearing in their heads and chests. Those who could ran and hid, hoping to ride out the chaos.

Welcome to Nowhere Land. Good luck, and have a good time. Try not to die too quickly.

Activities
Feel free to interact as much as you want with the world and other players. If there is combat, PM me and I’ll RNG it for you. Please, try to RP once a week or so, I’ll wait for RP, but I will have to update at some point, so if you want your actions represented, you must roleplay in time.

Other Stuff:

Politics in Nowhere Land:
The politics of Nowhere Land are very feudal, oftentimes warlords will rule over cities and provide protection in exchange for goods. At this point, the largest feudal state, Roisland, where the gods have landed, is under attack by a coalition of smaller states. Should the New Roisland, the capital fall, it is presumed the coalition will disintegrate into infighting as they try to determine who retains control of the territories gained.

Technology in Nowhere Land:
The devastating meteor strikes destroyed much of the technological progress of civilization of Nowhere Land, including most of the military technology. The more powerful estates are equipped with World War 2 style rifles, while smaller, poorer states are using percussion cap technology at the best. Communication is largely done via radio and structures are made mostly of steel and concrete, with few large walls of glass. Automobiles exist, and are used primarily in the cities, becoming far less common with distance from cities. Trains are the most common mode of transportation for the average citizen. The construction of airplane prototypes has begun, but none have been used in war or for commercial purposes yet.

Occupations of the Citizenry:
The citizens of Nowhere Land work a wide range of mostly blue-collar jobs, but a small portion are in the medical profession while many try to smuggle goods in to supplement their small or even nonexistent wages. Many law professions have all but disappeared, as the warlord has the final say on all laws and punishment in the city.

Other General Information/Rules/Things to Remember:
Nobody begins playing with any modern weaponry, a knife of even a sword is acceptable, a gun is not.
I’ll add more as I see fit.

Expect more information in the game thread, along with a map, this is just what I'm going with right now to gauge interest.

Please give me another two posts to reserve, I'll tell you when you can post :)

Backstory:
Spoiler :
When we were cast down from the heavens, some of us cursed the unknown force that caused it. Some of us mourned the powers that we lost, and sought to gain them back.

Me? I welcomed it.

Then again, I was always different from the others. They considered themselves kings and queens, princes and princesses. I held no such illusions. I was a mere craftsmen to their eyes, and I saw myself no differently. I cast the lightning that arcs from the sky. I molded the land so the seas had a place to form. I forged the sun to mark the day, and created the moon and stars to govern the night. Any other God would have sought vengeance on the haughty rulers, but I was content. Invention was my passion. However, I always believed the greatest invention was a creation I had no hand in. Man.

I was fascinated by them, as a child is fascinated with an intricate toy. To see such intelligence, such creativity, such emotion in a mere creature was incredible. I tried creating creatures like them, but they were something I could never cast out of metals and minerals. They were something more than the lifeless material I molded and shaped. But my fellow Gods did not see them as such. They were content to see them as mindless beings, no greater than any other animal. I was forbidden to speak to them, but how could I let these poor creatures live like this.

So I defied the Gods. I gave man fire. They tried to undo my gift, but the damage was done. Man was no longer another animal that the Gods could manipulate freely. They had technology, the greatest gift I could give. I was punished severely, but I never regretted my decision, not even when Nantz removed my hands. I had already given my hands to Mankind.

So I created new hands for myself, and watched the humans grow in power, using their ingenuity and my gift to create fantastic new creations. The others were terrified, yet I was elated. My dream, and their greatest fear, was that one day man would become like us. I dreamed of the day when the heavens opened from below and Man joined us in the heavens. To be considered equal to them, those fantastic creations, was a dream truly worth seeking.

Yet here I find myself among the humans, admittedly against my will. My powers have diminished, but what difference does that make? I'm one of them now. No longer will I wait idly for Man to enter the heavens and welcome them when they come. I will travel there with them, and reenter the heavens alongside them. What more could I ever want?

Former god of: Invention
Minor power (we’re talking something really minor here): Silas is a highly skilled inventor and mechanic, one that very few humans can hope to match.

Attributes
Strength: 6
Inteligence: 10
Dexterity: 4

Name: Druza
Description: A pale, skeletal figure, in a dark, full body cloak that fully obscures him from view. Speaks in a maniacal voice.
Backstory: Druza laughed maniacly as he fled his prison. The sun stung him, but he did not care. For eons he was kept here for what crime? For saving innocent people, for making the lives of the greiving new again. For daring to wage war on death itssef and almost winning. Yessss. Freedom was sweat, though nothing cold be sweater than the fate of his divine tormentors. Now they fled in fear. Finally they felt the pain they had inflicted on millions. It was but a small part of the retrebution they deserved, and he undoubtably would inflict. He was born desiering only good. To fix the greatest evil of this world. Yesss. This very one. He felt its breath, he knew it. What evil? Why that every being, no mater his actions, stature and worth was given te spark of life only to lose it. Tirelesssly he worked. He knew of the failiures of those before and avoided their mistakes through days of toil. Yessss! My plan was foolproof, at least by mortal means. But they took him. In that moment of maddening revelation, I saw that I was not alone. Since history began they worked to stop our rise, how many died in small rebellions, or were driven mad. Their dividedness was all that kept us from still trembling in caves before the totem. It was the greatest miracle of all. But against me they were united, ripping me from my foolish sense of freedom, free will, sanity and power. They held me here, for eons, tortured despite no crime. Oh, they will suffer, they will fall. They will crumble now, that they have received a hundredth dose of the pain and misery they have caused to innocent humble mortals, working for the good of all.

Former god of: God?! You dare call me a god, puny immortal?!

Minor power (we’re talking something really minor here): I have detailed my studies in a series of manuscripts. I do not have them now, but I sense it. They are here and the are untouched, for if they were found they would have been replicated and disease banished. If I can find them, I will have the ability to cure, or perhaps even... To raise the Dead but they are hidden from me. OOC: You can make these as difficult to find as you want, from dropping them on my head, to putting them in volcanoes, chests in the depth of the sea and caves in the grinding ice. I will also leave it to your decision to ballance their power, from Cure Light Wounds, to full blown necromancy (hopefully power is proportional to difficulty, I dont want to go to the depths of the core to cure a tiny scratch, and it would be boring to make me a necromancer from day 1:p). This is minor because I will only find them far from now and someone may be able to stop me.

Attributes (You may allocate 20 total points and may allocate no more than 10 points in each category):
Strength: 4
Inteligence: 10
Dexterity: 6

Map should be up very shortly. Can I ask you guys to change your points, I realized 25 is a bit much with only 3 categories, please refill them using only 20 points. Thanks :).

No problem.

Also, is there a King of the Gods in this game? It would help my back story if I knew who he/she was.

Hmm, yes, otherwise I don't know how the other gods would be thrown out. The King of Gods will likely be a mute character, but he'll exist and maybe help/cause trouble for the gods that survive their first couple nights in Nowhere Land.

Added a back story. I rather like it. :D

Added my minor ability. The right to itemquest for a major ability.

Name: Iain
Description: A tall, well groomed man with bright-blue eyes that resemble a wispy cloud. He has a short-trimmed silver goatee and is usually wearing some kind of silver garment, perferably a two-pieced robe.
Backstory:
Spoiler :
Like all the gods, Iain lived and created in the Heavens. Watching down on Men, aiding or impeding their goals. They were just toys of the Gods for amusement mostly. Iain was one of those that took it a step further. He gifted himself with a 'Silver-Tongue.' This allowed him to be able to manipulate and persuade Man's decisions and choices. Since it was a god-given gift, it proved ineffective on his fellow Gods. Due to his increased intervention with mortals, he studied the race and was able to learn almost everything about the general man. The other Gods thought he was obsessed with these creatures by how much years and decades he spent immersed in their culture. While fellow Gods created new lands and creatures, he spent his centuries learning the language of those below the Heavens. With the fall of the Gods, Iain lost most of his Silver-Tongue properties, but he can regain his lost confidence through trial and error with the Mortals he always wanted to meet.

Former god of: Manipulation
Minor power: (Calling the power 'Silver-Tongue') Iain has the ability to persuade and manipulate the minds of those around him. This influence does not effect gods and increases with use. He starts out only able to manipulate weak minded mortals.

Attributes (You may allocate 20 total points and may allocate no more than 10 points in each category):
Strength: 4
Inteligence:10
Dexterity: 6

I am new to NES, so don't expect too much off the bat, haha

Everyone seems to be gunning for intelligence. :p

Ok, I have a friend who's going to join, making 6 players, I'll hold out over the weekend and see if we can make it to 8 or so before starting but I'll start with 6 and keep accepting entries. I sure hope this is going to be great for everybody.

Also, if you know anybody who might be interested, pester them just a little bit. You know, just enough to get them aware of this thread's presence. ;)

Name: Procell
Description: A man about 5' 10" with electric blue eyes that contrast sharply with his olive skin tone and windswept dark hair. He is of a light build and never seems to tire.
Backstory:
Spoiler :
Procell was created out of the need of the gods to control storms. This backfired on the more powerful gods somewhat, as even though he does what he was created to do, he does not obey the higher powers. Who he was formed out of the unpredictable nature of storms. He trusts no one, he obeys no one, his actions and reactions are as unpredictable as a storms. While storms can be dangerous, they are mostly benevolent. Procell took this to his immortal heart when deciding what to use his powers for. He decided he would help all life, if it did not upset the balance of the ecosystem. He treated all life as equal, including humans. He has spent the last few centuries attempting to balance the planet after the humans had become an invasive species. This has included nurturing nature while doing everything in his power to put humans back in their place. He does not hold a grudge against humans, it is what they do, it is what every animal is attempting to do, but he must fix the mistake. One species does not outweigh millions, but every life is precious.

Former god of: Storms
Minor Power: has the ability to control the direction and speed of the wind in a small radius around himself. The degree with which he can do this varies with the weather.
