Pre-Thread For A Civ IV S&T Project

1) I also must voice dissent for LoR.
I think playing vanilla BtS would give everyone the same baseline to work on, as it is standard.

2) My Spring Break...is next week. Not sure about anyone else.

A mod with the REVDCM would be preferable as we would get some more realism
Besides, the mod isn't anywhere near complicated, any average player should do just fine.

Anyway, i'm starting to become more supportive of Neoteric, i fear crashes on LoR...

If we don't play Earth, I'd like to play Terra . It's more balanced, for certain.
Also, do you know Legends of Revolution? I personally prefer it a lot more than Neotheric World.

Terra terrain isn't very interesting.

The most beautiful map script out there is, in my eyes, PerfectWorld2. (If I remember the name correctly.) I play on it all the time.

I'm not used to any mods, but would still prefer a mod over vanilla BtS - I loved the one time I tried Revolutions and would love to have them implemented. Makes for great RP... :)

And I'll go for full RP people. If I consider myself a barbarian nation, I'll mass warriors or something. Be warned, as I will therefore suck. :P

I'd personally like to play on a map with more water (Archipelago maybe) and yeah, unmodded BtS sounds good.

Yeah, i agree with you, Neoteric + RFC Earth sounds fine for me...

I would prefer a non-earth map.

I vote for Earth.

I'm going to have to make the case for a randomly generated map.
Feel free to dispute my reasoning:

1) The Earth18/34 maps are characteristically unbalanced in terms of resource
distribution and food positive city spots.
The bias inevitably leans towards Europe & China/Japan.

2) Since this is an RP oriented MP game, the unknown factor of a randomly
generated map would help the RP factor (by virtue of not knowing beforehand
where everything is, thus discouraging metagaming).

3) Limits rushing.

I would prefer an Archipelago map script but anything else is fine with me too.

LoR is good, i would be perfecly fine with that, as long as the mod includes revolutions it's fine :)

Anyway, about the map, yeah, TD has a solid point there...On a random map i would suggest either Terra (Everyone on Old World), Earth2 (old world again) or tectonics, tough the later has the problem of usually having some separate continents with players and one for colonization...

Legends of Revolution is fine for me. As for map scripts, anything but earth 2 :p

Neoteric World: 7
Vanilla BtS: 3
Legends of Revolution: 2

Earth: 4
Perfect World: 2
Randomly Generated: 7

About 34 hours left for tallying.

PerfectWorld would be great; I'd also prefer vanilla BTS as I haven't got a huge amount of disk space for mods on my comp. right now.

Votes counted, voting is now closed.

We will be playing a Giant map on Marathon speed with Low sea level and a temperate climate, using Planet_Generator map script.

We start this Saturday as well.

I'm going to have to drop out, I'm afraid. Time constraints/time zones and all that.

That's a pity, Optical :( By the way, I can't play saturday :( Camp. Is there a way to let the AI auto-play or something?

Hmm. Debating on whether or not to skip this weekend and wait until next month... ideas?

Low sea level? I wouldn't suggest that, we are better off with some naval competition instead of pure-land...

But... Isn't low sea level just expanding the land masses until land wars become interesting? Higher sea levels usually just mean more areas of empty space...

Should I download Neoteric World or are we playing vanilla BtS?

You should download Neoteric World. Normal sea level will give fleets more elbow room to maneuver, which will make for some more interesting engagements. Low sea level would definitely be interesting, but we are playing on a map script that could possibly toss us a Pangea like map, or have thirteen continents on it, with plenty of rivers and lakes.

Playtesting the mod would probably be a good idea so that you can get a feel for it. Lots of new units, resources, and features to it that would be rather beneficial to look over first.

And everyone needs to get the same BUG options, otherwise we will crash (that's my experience)
So, how about the default ones? I myself don't use them, but will be easier to unexperienced players...

(Also, is it just me of the planet_generator script lacks the a option to add new worlds?)

As for game settings, may i suggest the following:
Choose Religions
Rev Mod
Barbarian Civs
Tech Diffusion
Dynamic Civ names
