Why are we building the Knights Templar? This game will be over in 20-30 turns: by the time it's finished (14 turns), plus 5 for the first Crusader to pop out, plus another however many for it to arrive at the front....

if that is so (not sure because i havent really looked at a save lately) then i will switch the build to something else

you're right eldar, prolly about 20 turns, i've taken 3 or 4 turns tonight & i think i already have enough settlers (depending upon how many rival cities get auto-razed), it's just a matter of finishing off the rest of the pangea & getting the right culture expansions

sorry guys, still working on it, think I am on turn 7 right now, tomorrow night i will give it to the next player, but i actually hope to finish the turns tomorrow night, really stressed for time right now, baseball season is killing me right now

Pre-Flight

we have 36% area & 67% pop, i am betting we'll need to conquer the whole continent. agreed with eldar, KT not needed, switched production to knight at a loss of 20 shields

change production in other cities:

Sao Paula: market - settler
Atlanta: market -settler (wastes shields)
Entremont: market - temple (wastes 13 shields)
Barcelona: barracks - temple
NY: market - settler
Alesia: market - settler
Braga: galley - knight
Sagres: galley - settler
Gergovia: aqueduct: settler
Agedincum: harbor - settler
Rio Janeiro: aqueduct - temple
Oslo: barracks - temple
Luanda: market - temple
Alcacer do Sol: harbor - settler
Toledo: barracks - temple; convert scientist to taxman
Guarda: aqueduct - settler
Viseu: barracks - wealth (wastes 2 shields)

wake several elite units which are lying around doing nothing & are nowhere near the battlefireld, looks like they were fortified in cities to heal maybe and then overlooked??

sell Lit to Germany for 39 G

planned to take a couple more turns, but gotta give it up, a couple units may be on goto orders, sorry, like knights headed to cities building galleys & workers headed to new territory, an invasion of the mongols might help our cause if we can grab a couple cities. tried to open civassist to get a tile count, it kept freezing up, but finally got it, need 177 tiles

knights in core area have been fortified as well as other units here and there for defense from possible sea invasions, a couple med inf fortified outside former viking cities in case of flips.

Go team go! :hammer: Will I get to play this again? :hmm:

Nope! :hammer:

Not that I bothered with a turn log... but here's the highlights of the last 10 turns:

- Wipe out the last German cities - aaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Settler-in-Galley :wallbash: . Rush Galleys to sink theirs, Germans dead.
- Wipe out the last Viking cities - no Settlers-in-Galleys :D
- Get another MGL, new Knight Army that does nothing!
- Declare on Byzantines just 'cos, and clear them off OUR continent.
- Land a bunch of Knights on the Mongol Iron, and pillage it. They keep attacking - boy do they have a lot of units.
- Domination win in 390AD! :goodjob:

Final save attached. And a nice big end-of-it-all piccie for the lurkerz.

Great game peeps!

Neil

Very nice. Were my marketplaces useful, or a waste of resources?

i would say useful, not just in the extra gold generated, but in keeping those larger pop cities happy, i never had any war weariness concerns, although that might have been because of short length of wars, i didnt exactly do any analysis, but i am a big fan of markets.

okay, i just looked in the HOF for a comparison to see how well we did as far as a fast finish, on emporer level, standard map for domination this game would have placed 3rd, the only 2 entries with a faster finish were both the Iroquois (a much better civ w/ a great UU, we never even got to our UU) and thosae games only beat us by a few turns, #2 - 330 AD, #1 - 300 AD.

Good job to all.

I am now going to take a leave of abscence on SG's so that I can concentrate on my HOF Quartermaster's bid.

Lurkers comment: Wow, way to go guys :)

I think you need to go up to Demigod :D

IIRC we never had a Golden Age.

You did, The SoZ gave it to you in 470BC

Ahh - we must've captured the Colossus by then :D

IIRC, The Colossus was in Washington, but I neglected to mention it during my turn summary, at the time I had not thought of its usefulness regarding GA.

I agree, originally I wanted to play a succession of SG's on Emporer level, but i am thinking if there is a PRED - 03 it will be demigod, although I might still be interested in an Emporer level SG with other players moving up from regent / monarch.
