Pred - 03: Demigod everything random

good finds, was this on a suicide run or can this be easily reached to drop off a settler? we could use that land even if it will be awhile before we can trade the resources over, of course, if that land is significantly better we can always jump the palace.

It is safe to send a settler. We have the Lighthouse, so we have an exclusive right over this land. Well, no, because the Vikings seem to have settled there, but anyway...

it slipped my mind about the vikings having built the lighthouse, that does give us a considerable advantage there, would be nice to get rid of that viking city before peace or get it during peace.

we need to check the wonders we acquired from the vikings against what we need for a GA

In short, only 1 thing went well, we got a leader! But for everything else it just was one of those days.

Pre-turn
give Vikings peace for construction, republic, Odense(horses) and 1gold.
Next target should be france for they have 3 luxes.
Change temples to courts, trondheim to settler, Tsjintao to lib.
revolt
150BC
moving
90BC
Persians land a horse and an archer
move units to intercept, don't demand just in case, maybe we're lucky.
70BC
persians capture bergen, and apparently rush spear on same turn??
can't get there with enough units.
50BC
attack Bergen, partly luck, we get a leader, but no luck otherwise
30BC
Persia takes Trondheim, and again rush a spear on same turn??
We become a Republic! Time to get even
Rush some archers.
We take back Bergen, am not using the army yet, want to be able to ship it to the Persian homeland.
10BC
Take back Trondheim.
Turn science down to single scientist
70AD
americans attack us. a warrior takes the spear in Birka
Get embasy with france and alliance against persia for incense.
Use archer form Birka looses without even hitting the warriro is't not my night. give city to maya as we'll loose it anyway, now they love us, and are still a useless civ.

Advice:
settle 2 more cities on our island on the red dots. Land the 3 shiploads on kill north of ..ergadae, load spears into army as it won't be attacked, send ships back to get more archers and cats. Most Persian attackers should be moving to France now;) . Rush a spear in Odense or America migth walk into it. There's also a cat and archer near Stockholm, collect them.

are you sure we should do that, seems a waste of an army to me, the one thing i have never loaded into an army is spears. what are other's thoughts on this?

It'll provide cover for the archers and cats. Best attacking unit we got is archer, which still is a rather weak army. So I prefer to get a good way to prevent our weak units especially the cats. We can probably activate the leader and spear in the boat and join then then unload it.

that's a rather good point, its either spears or archers might as well get the defensive cover

nerovats, that's the wrong save you uploaded, your pic says year 70 AD, the save is 170 BC, didnt notice this until i tried to play the turn today

okay, problem here, it is now 190 AD & the war continues with Persia. Not much has gone well for us, for starters 2 turns into my session one of our cities, Canton, flipped to Persia, who instantly had a spear fortified there of course. retaking this city seemed to be a priority. then as I am preparing to make a good invasion into Persian lands, they land 2 AC next to our capitol on top of hills, lost a couple archers there, we are about to lose our capitol & maybe even another city. The thing is, Persia would agree to peace with us straight up right now, only this ruins our rep because of the alliance that was signed with France before.

Of course, that is my own rule, reputation is golden, nevermind, maybe I can somehow get our own capitol back in peace talks later, this is gonna hurt.

I expected they would send their troops to france as they are on the same continent.

yeah, that's what i thought too, i woulda done the same thing prolly, sign in France for the alliance, just didnt work like it usually does, course if it had not been AC's it would not have mattered so much, spears would have posed no attack risk, archers easily killed.

Anyway, sorry for keeping this all weekend, I played it a few hours ago but then had to deal with some RL issues, in the meantime, I lost my turn log. I'll do my best to remember what happened.

Before I get to my busy turns, I think our rep is already trashed, I tested the market to buy a tech since I had left research at minimum and "they would never accept such a deal" I figure what happened is whenever Persia or America declared on us it broke a deal we had or something. One of the drawbacks of this game, sometimes your rep is trashed with no fault of your own. This means if we want to buy techs we will have to get creative.

In 90 AD Canton flipped to Persia, taking me by suprise. Instead of focusing on attacking Pasargadae, I refocused retaking Canton. In the meantime, I fortified the spear army a couple cats and archer outside Pasagardae. Reclaimed Canton with no units lost, however, this upset my positioning of troops for later which allowed the disastrous Persian landing of 2 AC on a hill outside Beijing.

This landing happened just as I was prepared to take Pasargadae having 4 cats and a few archers to accompany the spear army. I could not get enough units to Beijing to defend, a couple of attacks failed miserably. After much deliberation I decided to empty Chengdu of all units hoping they would take that instead & leave Beijing alone. Took Pasargadae & generated a leader, immediately formed an army, although that might not have been the best thing to do, loaded no units into the army.

Persian ACs took Chengdu & left everything else untouched. Decided to refocus efforts on reclaiming Chengdu, did not want to let Persia get a foot hold on our island. Left Spear army & a couple archers in Persia to make mayhem, I also figured Pasargadae would flip back to Persia (for some reason I neglected to starve the city down, this needs to be done, sorry)

Things got real interesting as I rallied troops against the 2 ACs in Chengdu, bombardment revealed the city also had a spear just a couple turns later. A couple persian galleys entered & left the city at times, prolly bringing reinforcements. Then America offloaded some units near Trondheim.

At this point I completely scrapped anything that did not involve defending our island, changed some builds to get more units / cats, built a few more spears than I normally would, mostly because I was expecting those ACs to leave Chengdu & attack in other areas before I could kill them off.

I was able to eliminate the American threat without their doing any harm, after killing off the last unit, I negotiated peace with them for some gold, they would not give a tech.

Next my plan was to finish off the Persian hold in Chengdu, no easy task, but I finally reclaimed the city, with no losses on our side thanks to our cats. There is another Persian galley just off the coast near Copenhagen, I would be wary of it. Trying to use units to play zone defense against future landings. Witrh all the ferrying of units here and there, I never got around to rescuing that archer / cat by Stockholm.

Odense, that city by the Vikings new home, flipped to the VIkings.

My thoughts: eliminate Persia altogether, I think we can defend our island by playing zone defense and send all our cats along with several archers back to Persia. There are 2 lux there, ivory in Pasargadae & wines in another city. If we dont eliminate Persia, the cities will eventually flip back.

I never built any settlers, one just finished this turn (I ended as soon as I reclaimed Chengdu from Persia) but we do need to finish settling our island. We also need improved infrastructure, I managed to finally get irrigation down near our starting spot, we also need markets, though libraries are questionable.

While we deal with the Persian problem, hopefully we can stay at peace with everyone else and concentrate on some of these issues, war seems to be getting in the way of things.

In the attached pic, I highlighted a plan that should get us both horses & iron. We have one settler built, another is being built in Oslo, which is basically useless, perhaps we should rush that one. Then we can send those settlers to the unclaimed island which has a horse & 2 iron, send a few workers (alternatively found on the resources & rush harbors in each city), rush a harbor, there's a sea route, we have the Lighthouse (as long as Trondheim doesnt flip). Our Army is fortified on our home island, I was thinking if this could be accomplished and if it could be accomplished quickly we would have much better units available to load in it.

Maybe we can create a kiling zone on home continent by putting a unit in all but 1 city. All AI landings should be near that city so, we can take them out eassily. I suggest to raze all Persian cities. After that the deal with France must have run out, and they should be weak because of the war, so take them too.
Agree on setling on horse and iron first.

I can't play this one guys...

Skip me, I'll get my next turn, sorry...

the only problem i see with razing Persian cities, if we are not quick to get settlers there to rebuild (which we wont be because we are not set up to build settler fast since half our territory had no fresh water and the other half was previously run by the AI) France will jump in & calim that territory.

If we can maintain defense at home, the kill zone is a good idea, we should be able to bowl over Persia w/ our cats & no-touch spear Army. I'd just leave a couple archers outside every city so if it flips we can retake it. Although we are not set up to build settlers fast, several cities can knock out archers / spears / cats to continually restock in Persia during the war.

OK, here it is!
Damn! What are we doing in a Republic????
280: send loads of units over sea (including the empty army)
don't know when: hurried the settler in oslo
300: send the army for Persepolis, full the army with archers
310: send the original settler from Beijing to the iron spot
320: kill a few spears in persepolis with the archer army
330: take Persepolis and Artemis
340: send army to Sidon
350: build settler, send it to the new land
360: build Hagchow, near the iron. take Sidon
370: end of alliance with France, trade incense for 12 gpt, send army to Gordium
380: Persia unloads build Tsientin on the horse, France signs peace with Persia
390: take Gordium, send army to Antioch
400: attack Antioch, build Macao on other iron
410: take Antioch :woohoo:
Now Persia is down, we are #1 in territory and are growing in power. I think we should take out France because our army is there.
