Prediction for the civil war in the U.S!

CivGeneral said:
Certanly I hope that there wont be another American Civil War. Remember how bloody the American Civil War in 1860-1865, now imagen how bloody the American Civil would be when they use modern weapons against each other.

1861-1865, not 1860-65. Secession did start in 1860 however

In that case, the south and mid west would hand the Liberal states collective ass back to them.

Despite all the wishing for it, the US is not going to have a civil war. It wouldn't work, in this day and age Americans think of themselves as "Americans" not "Virginians" or "Texans" or "Ohioans". It could never happen.

I see myself as a New Yorker.

Trust me, I know more the a few active and Former Marines who would take issue with that statment. And If the Army does try to overthrow the government the Marines would have their ass real quick.

Sorry to break it to you, but... the marines suck. They're horribly overhyped.

YEAH! HOOAH! The Confederacy will rise again!

According to the man himself:

John Titor said:
When the civil "conflict" started and got worse, people generally decided to either stay in the cities and lose most of their civil rights under the guise of security or leave the cities for more isolated and rural areas. Our home was searched once and the neighbor across the street was arrested for some unknown reason. That convinced my father to leave the city.

Sure it is, Mr. Titor.

Note: I had no idea on who this John Titor was... I feel like I wasn't missing
much.

actually, almost all states are red, but just that there are some city folks that voted for the blue.

So maybe its more of the Country folks vs City folks.

and we all know who has the most guns :D

Maybe also if there is a coup in the US, will that develop into a civil war ??

I can't see how anyone is going to take that statement seriously.

I actualy learned that the most of the counties are red, but I was trying to figure out whom would fight against whom other than the red-blue state divide. The American Civil War in the 1860s certanly had a clear border of which was a slave state and which was a free state (With an exception of a few border states in the union that were slave states and remained in the union). If we are talking about a Civil War II, where is the divide? The Blue-Red states comes to mind, but then, as you pointed out. There are numorus counties that voted red.

Is I said in the reply to Ramius75's post. I was just generating ideas but was unsure about each possible one. Hense the " " smilie.

Well, of the first three, only one side of each has significant weapons or training amongst the civilians. Heck, for the most part food and electricity comes from or through the "red states" and big cities tend to have problems with civil disorder when lacking either one.

And as irretrievably divided as the two sides are concerning the abortion issue, either side would be crazy to embrace physical violence as a solution.

OK, I had just thought that maybe you were almost hoping for liberal parts of the country to secede and found their own micronations.

My question is when will this "civil" war start exactly, I’m not reading to much into what john titor said but it's interesting to know if this major prediction comes true.

What do you guys think?

Here we go again....

he was debunked, period. ;) Read back a year ago, there's a thread in OT about him. (Funny how this pops up in a civ forum -- guess it's the alternate history track). It's nothing more than another militia-wannabe who wants their revolution.

yeah, therefore i think it will be very hard for anyone to predict a split in the US now even thou the population is deeply divided during the election, its against most will to ve divided and most importantly, very few reasons to do so too.

Taking reason into persepctive, there must be an event that will cause a split in the country and also the reason must be good enough to fall into civil unrest.

Here are some of the reasons i can think about.

The growing disparity between the rich and the poor. (this maybe trigger by a collapse in the economy and into a depression, ppl who cannot find jobs will want to blame on the rich. Maybe due to massive taxcut or a straightout monopoly. When there is nothing to lose, ppl will fight)

A state in secession. California ? Alaska ? Hawaii ?? Texas ??

A coup where the senate is overrule and disbanded. So its a war between the president and the senate.

To MarineCorps,

There is plenty of ignorance and power hoarding types in the military, that would side with authoritarianism if it "Made the country more secure" and gave them power. As for the Marines beating the Army, well its' not like the Army would wholesale go for the coup, there would be an internal struggle, and whoever achieved the most units would be victorious. If this was occuring in the Army this would likely be occuring in all branches of the military and things would have to be really <snip> for something like that to even remotely have a chance of happening.

But seriously, the Army would romp the Marines if only because of numeric superiority and flexibility (You all are designed specifically for sea-land invasion, we handle everything). Not to mention the fact that Army has better people in it to begin with ;) .

A little interesting sidepoint, if a foreign or domestic military were to ever impose itself on the American civilians, they would be <snip> unless 2nd Amendment rights were revived. And it would seem inevitable that in all of our existence there will come a point where civilians will be facing foreign or domestic military.

If you can look at the results of the elections divided by counties, certanly the rural counties would certanly overtake the urbanized counties. Certanly I dont want to face someone from the rural counties that is armed while the urban counties refuse to take up arms.

IMO, it would be a pointless civil war.
