Press build preview

It's less than a month till release. And compared to previous leaks it's not that terrible (and much more controllable).

But I wonder, what kind of embargo is still on if that much information could be shown.
No live streams, not more than 1 hour of content per game, as it seems.

As leaks go, it is pretty minor. To be fair to the YT people, they should of either completely removed/hidden anything they dont want shown in that build or already revealed it by the time the embargo is up. That is the natural struggle between marketing and the people making the game.

The leaders and civs were always going to be revealed. They would have literally had to create a redacted version of the game to avoid this, and there clearly isn’t any point to doing that a couple of weeks before launch.

Right, so why stagger the embargo dates? Why a January date and a February date?
None of these are reviews as such, most of the vids released are akin to long tutorials. I suspect they have separated embargo dates to get the gameplay mechanics out there to williung viewers before any more opinionated videos are released as to let potential players make their own mind up first (just an idea)

I think you're right. There isn't a lot of editorializing from what I can see.

Interesting that we have two southeast Asian leaders at launch, and three civs, but none of the leaders are related to the civs!
Rizal is definitely one of the popular figures here, but in the timeline the Modern Era is really weird for the Philippines to be a civ. The Philippines were (broad strokes) under Spain until 1900, then America, then Japan, then America again, then didn't rebuild as well as other nations after World War 2. I've been struggling to figure out a design for them that isn't just Mexico but Asian.

Does it have to be modern Philippines? Could also be Exploration Cebu.

Cebu is possible, but my personal favorites would be Exploration Banaue (World Wonder being the Banaue Rice Terraces) or Exploration Sultanate of Sulu.

Tondo can work as an Exploration IP (or if they wanna Mississippi or Greece it, an Antiquity Kingdom of Luzon)

Is this the Founder's Edition Fog of War skin?

Nook's preview seems to have spoiled the missing leaders. Frederick and Himiko will have 2 personas and the missing leader is José Rizal
Ohhh nice! Didn't think we'd get a Filipino leader but that's a welcome addition.

Wow Marbozir's vid is already a cluster-F. Catherine leading Mississipians into Hawaii, Isabella leading Egypt. :crazyeye:

I think to some people this sounds fine, and to others it sounds nuts.

After months of being told that the AI would take the “historic path” and that people concerned about Civ switching should worry less because of this specifically, this is an interesting change.
I think the game might need to be set up with leaders paired with associated civs for a real "historical path"
