Press build preview

One Polish channel seems to have basically published a review. Can’t comment on it until tomorrow though. FXS could have picked better reviewers to share the game with though…

I wonder if "chooses the historical path" is based on whatever the initial configuration was. Might be that a random leader + random civ in setup is truly random - that's what it looks like - then each subsequent transition attempts to follow the "historical path", which might be wonky if the initial leader/civ combo were in fact randomly assigned to each other. The civ path might be "historical" (Maurya -> Chola) even if that is NOT the "historical" path for the leader (say, Ben Franklin).

I think this is it. People are getting thrown off by the initial leader/civ combos, but I don’t really want those to be prescriptive. I also don’t think it’s even feasible, since there are multiple antiquity age pathways for leaders to get to their “correct” civ

I find the lines by Gwendoline Christie to sound kinda dull and boring. I might be alone in that opinion.

I haven't watched many videos so far, but I have to say, that I've enjoyed GamerZakh's one the most. It's basically just him playing and discovering the game, like I would with a cup of coffee. Probably not the best video if you want to learn as much as possible, but very good to watch and chill.
I enjoy watching his vids - will do that one next

One thing I noticed from Quill’s video was that the Age of Antiquity ended at turn 119

I personally think that’s way too soon. It might have to do with how he played and the settings but this is a small concern for me.

Maybe some tweaking to the Age progression is needed

Yeah, they said each age would be ballpark 200 turns, I think.

119 =/= 200.

It's just math. You can't argue with math.

I'll have to listen to them still, but I thought Sean Bean delivered nearly every line poorly, so I'll settle for dull over that. :P

I can live with 150. But 119 is definitely too short, especially for my favourite age

I mean, there will be a lot of variation. And even 119x3 adds up to (multiplies up to) longer than most of my Civ V games ever last.

Bear in mind that there are settings for both Game Speed and Age Length, so I think there should be plenty of scope to customise to your tastes.

As someone whose Civ VI games rarely stretch past turn 250, 119 is a plenty long time for each Age!

Agree with these sentiments but in V and VI the last 50 turns or so you just wanted the game to go into victory. To me those were not interesting turns

I think I’ll also play 7 more in terms of a game night per age.
Use the transition the next time I play as the starting point

Same. I used to play online speed in VI, just to give our group a chance to complete the game in one sitting, but with the Ages I think we will be tempted to make each Age as long as possible and split the game over three nights. :)

I just saw in another stream there’s a setting where you can change the age length 😀

Also interesting to see a tick box for the crisis
