Preview! New Mod: -~-Warrior Pharaoh-~-

you know....
this is something i have REALLY been having a hard time with.
see....technically, this is supposed to cover a short period of time,
really just a few years when the Hyksos were driven out of the delta.

but so many things are involved.

how big my tech tree is, how many ages i cover, all basically depend on
how many turns this is.

would 100 be too few?
would 300 be too many?

is there really enough here with only 3 civs to occupy ones attention
through 300 turns?

what do you peeps think?

I was thinking about 200 turns too. There is a difference betwen the amount of time your tech tree might last and the amount of time you allow before victory. You could have a tech tree that lasts for about 100 turns, but allow another 50 turns for the sides to fight it out before the histograph victory is forced.

The idea I got originally was that this scenario would be fairly short and sweet. Maybe take a look at the Rise and Fall of the Mughals scenario for an example of a fairly short, but really enjoyable, scenario.

Your call of course, but I would love to see something in the ballpark of 125 - 175 turns; short, fast, and beautiful. But if you've got enough content such as units, techs, improvements (and cities to conquer ;)) then I could definately go for a longer game. Of course, if I were you I'd respect the advice of the great civfanatics  above. :D My post count is rather low just now. :mischief:

Oh, and did I miss something? I though there were going to be 4 civs. Unless of course you've changed you're mind.:)

I think that the Hyksos ruled a portion of Egypt for about 250 years?
However the number of turns is irrelevant to years. How long would each turn be? One month, one year, ten years? That should decide your number of turns and then make things build able accordingly. IMO.

Btw great selection graphically. I like the colors you used for civs too.

hmmm....
okay, well yeah, i really think this should be short and sweet, and it's killing my that i can't play it right now, but this pneumonia has kept me off the computer for a while, and i have the civlopedia all in a mess, so it'll never run until i get it all sorted!

but yeah, the idea is Ahmose finishing what his brother Khamose started,
driving the last Hyksos king out of Egypt once and for all.

so, really it was only a few years that he did that...maybe the turns should be set as months, numbering 120 turns, that works out to 10 years.

if that is the case it will may some things much easier, and I can reduce my
tech tree and wonders (i have too many I think), making things more specific
to the different nations involved.

I've already re-opened my files and am jumping back in, i really really really
want to finish this, it's really important to me to see this through.

what do you think?

120 turns = 10 years of game play?

Civ-specific tech trees should work :). I tried (and unfortunately, failed) that with my Ancient Greek scenario, but this one shouldn't have nearly as many civs ;)

okay okay okay
i will try to get a screenie up by tomorrow evening :p

any ideas for a unique resource that i can place near Thebes for "Dir El Medina"?
quite frankly, i don't know weather i should make it a wonder that obviously
boosts production, (also thinking it may spit out a "Craftsman" every 15 turns
that would be a fantastic worker who can finish projects), OR to just use a
"city resource" icon that has a crazy high amount of shields.

see, i want to use "Tomb Construction" as a tech available in the 3rd era,
and a "Worker Village" would be a great asset to whatever civ is occupying
that city.

also i've taken rob's advice and we'll see "The Walls of Kerma". ;)

yeah...
i think it'll work out good.
i'm using plot's egyptian worker just as the basic worker,
and i'm using the african worker he made as the "enslaved" worker.

so, basically the difference will be one has a headscarf, and one doesn't.
