Price of petrol (Gas) wher you live?

I've been looking at the USA going nuts about the price of petrol in there so i thought I'd ask. How much in Dollars per US Gallon is petrol in your neck of the woods?

1 Gallon = 3.79 Litres
$1 - €0.64

In Ireland (Waterford) today I paid €1.25 per litre or €7.46 per Gallon (US)

My calculation says current prices here work out to about USD 10.50 per gallon.

Mind you, we also have the second highest GDP per capita (after Luxembourg) so we can more or less afford it. Nevertheless the rising gas prices are making morons complain about the government and indicate their wish to vote for the painfully idiotic part of the opposition (even though the government has nothing to do with the rising prices, it's the world market that's doing it).

yes thank you for pointing out that we still pay half what you do. but have you been to this dismal place they call the wester half of the US? if you don't have a car, you are so limited in our society to possibly below our untouchable classes.

i payed .70 euro cents a litre here.

£1.19 includes £0.5035 per litre duty and 17.5% VAT. Near as dam it we are paying £0.50 before tax/ duty or 3.76805 USD per US gallon.

Actually about 2% higher than that but I'm too lazy to do the maths.

i know here in britain theres ridiculously high tax on petrol so i imagine it could be the same for the rest of europe

You guys have high gas taxes, and thus more efficient vehicles. We have pretty much no gas tax, and thus we have like 2 mpg cars.

That - and public transportation - was the express intention in the 90's.. When petrol was dirt cheap there was the fuel escalator - 3-6% over inflation increase in duty per year.

Last time I filled up, it was $4.09(and 9/10). Now, the same gas station is $4.29(and 9/10). This is in the span of a couple of days.

The one good thing I can say about central Florida, our gas prices seem to stay below the national average.
