A Latvian 16-year-old girl slapped Prince Charles in the face with a flower, because she protests the involvement of the UK in the bombings in Afghanistan...
She can face up to 10 years in prison for "endangering a high official's life"!

WHat a farce....giving a flower-whip slap is endangering someone's life? Unless there was some killer bees hidden in th flower, I don't understand how it could've killed MR. Charles. I mean... come on....10 years in prison for THAT? Jean Chretien got a cream pie in his face and the guy who did that only got fined, I think.

By the way, she looks old for a 16-year-old, doesn't she?

No, as much as we may disagree with these "hippies" who think we should roll over and play dead, I think it makes "our side" look bad to imprison a girl over whacking some royal figure- (or dick-) head with a flower!

Prince Charles should just say there was no harm done, and ask the Latvian authorities to release her. After all, "our side" is ALL ABOUT freedom of expression, isn't it?

It was a trivial sort of "attack" it's true, but being against the representative of a foreign state the Latvian gov. couldn't just drop the issue. At worst she'll just be fined anyway - Charles won't press charges over this in any case, it's up to the Latvians to decide how far to take this.

Hey, bro.... I'm a "hemp smoker" myself. You may flame away if you'd like, but I know exactly how to respond to it.

Really, there is such a concept in the US called cruel and unusual punishment, and basically that punishments should "fit" the crime (i.e. very severe for murderers and such, very small for petty chickensh*t stuff). Sometimes we deviate from that somewhat (like for hard-working people who puff on a little grass after work, for instance ), but mostly this is one of those things we as a free people believe in. I'm not sure what the principles of law are in Latvia, but in a way, as an ally in this war on terror, they represent the forces of freedom and democracy and so should be a bit more lenient to this girl. Let her go home, and she'll probably grow up sooner or later and realize she was probably a bit foolish in her wilder days. Send her for 10 years in prison for--THAT--and she'll ALWAYS hate what we stand for. And it will be because we f*cked her for basically NOTHING.

And damn it, it just makes us all LOOK bad.... And silly.

F*ck, I think I can be pretty black-and-white, but I'm not THAT bad--and anyone who is needs some help....
