My computer recently stopped working the tower/base unit (what ever you want to call it) switches on and the power light comes on but the screen displays a message no input or connection and also the base/tower unit makes a whirling noise.
Any ideas on what is wrong help is dearly needed and wanted

Thank you in advance

Perhaps something's come loose inside the case, like a drive connector. That might explain the noise (fan blades striking a cord).

I sounds like just a lose monitor cord. If the video card is not working, you should be hearing a series of beeps. The beeps should tell you what is wrong if you get the codesheet.

The whirlling sound is probably a faulty cooling fan.

Barring that, maybe your power supply is faulty. That would mess up the fan and may not be supplying enough power to the computer to give a monitor signal.

Yep, you probably have a faulty power supply which can be replaced for a good 50 bucks.

Or, if you are using a Pentium 4, then there are two power cords that must be hooked up into the motherboard - if you don't have both connected then you wont be able to use the system.

Thank you for your input. A engineer is coming out soon so i wont be able to post for quite along time hmm thank you all.
