Thanks, although I'm almost tempted to move to Hadir - I like their religion more

Hey, there's enough Greco to go around :p But I'd rather play in the industrialized world, so I'll leave Hellenization of the ancient world to you Cuiv ;)

When you discover it. Or it discovers you. :mischief:

By the way, by my count we have 43 (individual) signups for PureNES so far, not counting das who's withdrawn. I think that's a new record in NESing history.
Well I intend not to make a decision until I can see everything. My reason being that if I chose a nation right now I might end up wanting to change my mind. The problem is that someone else may take the nation I would have wanted. Other than that though I am perfectly fine with.

Until you see everything?

Oh dear... You will be waiting a long time.
Wait if it's going to take a while to find a little bit a of land then mabey not otherwise though I would prefer to see everything just to make the best decision on what nation to chose.

Seeing everything is going to take a while. The world map is multiple times the size of the Earth map that the forum uses; we have about one Earth map's worth revealed so far. It's going to take tens of turns of exploration, and probably more than that, to reveal the entire thing.

Yes, this is "everything," as in everything that you're going to see before the NES begins. What we've shown you is everything that the civilized nations of the world have discovered so far.

What's beyond is completely unknown, except for rumors and legends.

Ok thanks this gives me more info about what to do.

Nah. *makes a beeline for Satellite tech*

The only thing that disappoints me is how horribly inept people are at predicting or stopping it, if NES2 I or NES2 III were any indication.

Thlayli, whats the infrastructure of the Holy Seraphic Church? I assume there is some sort of priesthood? Is there any sort of centralized hierarchy and if there is how centralized? Is it more like Eastern Orthodoxy or Catholicism? Are there regional heads a la Archbishops? Is there one in Aelten?

Sorry, ideas for stories need information to go on.

Oh no we all saw that nukes were coming, it was just a race who finished the project first.

why stop it? Steal it.
Rather presumes one can and one knows it exists in the first place. Hasn't worked either, historically or in NESing (whoever was working on it first had it first, and thus had more when the other guy got his, and were it to be a NES, would likely then nuke the other guy to keep the monopoly, and succeed in doing so).

That you all failed twice then speaks volumes. :p

To avoid clutter, I advocate if this is continued it be in the While We Wait thread.

Of course one can know. I like to keep tabs on other peoples projects. The point is however, when you get the information, and can create the nukes, you'll have a small golden window. [in Nesing] the creater of the nuke will often keep this new weapon secret for a time, you the stealer know about it, and thus can attempt a first strike to knock out his capabilities, or at least severly weaken him to the point of a much limited retaliation.

I mean obviously there is no real life anagolgy...

Azale changes his mind again! Holy Empire of Kantic Halidom for me, story by the end of the day.

Well school is over so I will probably write something when celebrations ends in two to three days.

Spoiler :
Changed my mind, I'd rather have Taenevix and as I haven't seen a story for it, I'm a'writin' one.

Voice of the Empire

Flagship Saint Cargan Launched!
In an address given before the Imperial Senate Wednesday, His Most August Majesty, Emperor Domnall VI, declared the launch of the R.A.S. Saint Cargan a "dividing moment in time," saying that there exists a "world before the Airfleet and a world after." In the launching ceremony Monday, the Emperor blessed the Saint Cargan, calling it the "greatest achievement of human progress."

The speech, brimming with references to defining moments Taenevi history, paid homage to the cultural roots of our people.[/size]

We are a people born of constant conflict and strife and from this we have grown strong. There is no obstacle that can stand in our way, no foreign power that can rule our people. Athurian are we, and yet Claidhe, but above all we are Taenevi and we have become sailors of clouds.

Even so, the speech ended on a somber tone, with the Emperor piously reminding us all why we strive for excellence in the first place.

With this ship, we conquer now the very skies. So high have we reached, so much have we accomplished. Yet let us not forget the One who animates all human thought and progress. Were it not for the Most High, the Seraph, the Lord and Master of Men and Destiny, not even the most ingenious scheme of man could be brought to fruition. So while we stand here, proud of the final frontier of mastery, let us all hear a word of caution: remember the Pride of the Beautiful One, lest we think ourselves our own masters and makers of destiny.

The Flagship is the first of newly inaugurated Imperial Airfleet, temporarily under the command of the Grand Admiral, the Commander of the Imperial Navy. The massive ship is outfitted with the latest in military communication and armament and sends a clear message to those who would ressurect the ghosts of the last war: Taenevix will not suffer violence. The Emperor has promised peace and prosperity, at the point of a bayonet if need be. With the St. Cargan standing sentinel on the borders of Taenevix, the bayonet will hardly be needed. This demonstration of the might of Imperial Taenevix is sure to dissuade all would-be attackers, putting an end to conventional warfare as we know it. For, indeed, what fool would stand against a power that commands even the Clouds?

Delegation to Mettlingen Withdrawn

In a gesture of support towards the Jathalland Confederacy, the Imperial delegation to Mettlingen has been recalled until recent allegations against the Metti are resolved. Mettlingen is suspected of funding Thulean rebels, creating chaos in the North and disrupting civil shipping. The Minister in Chief had this to say of the situation:

Piracy, revolution, civil war, and all other types of chaotic unrest fueled by brigands and thieves, are condemned by House
Gallagher and all Taenevix. The Athurians of Jathalland, distant cousins of the Taenevi people, naturally receive our support in this matter. Progress in this age of advanced machinery and economic prosperity must not be hindered by petty conflicts.

The Emperor has made it known that an accomodating response from Mettlingen will ensure a resumption of normal relations.
