Questions & Answers

Zeggy, it is just part of the gameplay, the A.I seems unable to handle a lot of barbarians and Inde's, as well as attacks from other Civs. However if you go for higher difficulty they are more likely to survive! :)

Just installed 1.07 and I do see buttons. I recomend you do the same and let us know if the problem persists.

I've just gotten v1.07 and finally it works!
I kept on staring at the damn buttons for some time, satisfied!
Thanks for helping!

And of course, thanks to Our Lord, Rhye! :king:

I posted this in another thread but will ask here:

What determines whether you can or can't switch to an emerging civ during the course of a game? I know you can't switch twice, but sometimes I never get the option to switch to an emerging civ when I haven't switched yet.

I think you should be in the neighbourhoud with your cities or your units when they spawn.

You mean emperor?

Its possible to help them survive, if you open up WB and give those cities walls.
The ai is just to supid to build them, or change production to units when threatend.

@ MrPopov: I disagree with Greeneyedzombie, afaik it's solely dependant on the time of spawning. When a civ spawns shortly after your first one you don't get the option to switch.

@ Greeneyedzombie: I think coko was referring to AI-bonusses on higher levels, that will give better chances both against barbs and stabilitywise.

I still think you need to be in the neighbour hood. When starting the game as the greeks, I always get an option to change to the charthagian. I never had the option to change to a far away civ, if I have not a unit close by.

There are only 3 dificulty levels. playing mostly on monarch. And I already know wich civs will collapse and when. Giving them walls greatly improves their chance of surviving a lot longer.

Edit:Micromega seems to be right. Didn't explore the map, and still got the option to switch to far away civs I never have been close to.

I'm pretty sure Micromegas is right, like in my last game as the Vikings I switched to the Mongols. Also my map was just Scandinavia, British Isles and Northern Continental Europe.

Edit: Didn't see your Edit

Sorry to shamelessly plug a post, but nobody seems to have noticed my cry for technical support in my "sup yo" thread. link.

I'm sorry if this has been asked to death already, but I'm really having trouble with the setting up 3 cities in every continent part of the British UHV. I'm quite sure I've done it a while before 1730, but for some reason it says I didn't. I manage to found Chicago, Fort Albany and Vancouver in N. America; a city in River Plate and 2 cities in Brazil in S. America; two cities in India (Madras and what should be Bombay) and one in Java (Jakarta location) for Asia; Adelaide, Sydney and Rockhampton for Australia (I founded Wellington in New Zealand for good measure); and finally East London, Cape Town and a city in Madagascar for Africa. This to my understanding fulfills all the conditions, so what's the problem?

As far as I remember, the city in Java gets counted towards Australia, and not towards Asia, so you have 2 in Asia and 4 in Australia. But I might be wrong...

Should do at least considering Java is part of the Oceania area not Asia.

So what the game considers Asia is different from the real Asia? Because I'm pretty sure Indonesia is part of Asia. Is the Philippines Asia or Oceania then? Because otherwise I'll have to settle in Kamchatka.

Have you updated to the latest BTS version. If so - that is your problem. It is causing lots of problems - particularly for XP users.

Hey Gabriele, I have two questions...

Numero uno - do we switch the patches with the RFC folder in BtS? Or do we put it in the Patch folder?

Numero B - Is anyone else, to your knowledge, having trouble with dynamic switch? After I load a previous game where I switched between two nations, the game gets stuck in a loop just before the loading bar shows (It normally says waiting for Civ Descriptions, or something along those lines).

Ofcourse, I'm still on V. 1.00

No it is part of Oceania, Melanesia to be precise.

It's disputed. I only know of the Wallace Line definition of the boundary between Asia and Oceania, and all atlas I've seen follow the UN definition and considers all of Indonesia (and East Timor) part of Asia. Where can I find the atlas that is used in the mod?

Thanks for pointing this out though. I didn't know that Java could be considered part of Oceania as well.

True, it is a bit of a hotspot of opinion. However I think it seems from how it reacted to the UHV guess it counts towards Oceania. Annoying but how it goes. I like to kill off Khmer and settle there lands.
