What version are you paying? Very early versions had a bug where you could get them to give as much gpt as you wanted, whether they could afford it or not. That at least could explain it.

If they won't pay 100 gold for a tech they don't think it's worth that much, plain and simple. This could be valid if you are trying to sell a dead-end tech after the wonder that the tech allows has been built, or if they have completed 98% of the research, and you are helping them get it the turn before completion. If this is the case (which it should be), then the only way they could offer lots of GPT is though a bug.

Well, I think you had it right the first time: leha's question only makes sense if they are selling to the AI.

But to be 100% clear: When you Reputation is shot the AI won't pay lump sums for 'per-turn' deals on your side, since you are known to break deals.

The AI won't:

- Pay lump sums for any kind of 'per-turn' deal on your side.

The AI will:

- Pay lump sums for techs (or other non 'per-turn' deals on your side)
- Pay GPT for anything

Good to know. Being able to move citizens to the most productive tiles will make a big difference. Especially when I change the unhappy ones into entertainers etc.

BTW: Do entertainers/scientists/tax collectors ever change back to regular citizens? Do they ever leave the city?

I am now playing my second game of Civ3, in my first game It seemed like all-out war all the time. FOr the last 200 years it was a constant World War. However, In my new game it is about 1800 AD and I am the only person to make war so far. I waged one huge war against Greece starting around 0 AD whittleing them down to one small city on an Island. ANd I have made short decisive wars with every other civ to either gain acces to a resource, or to get a forgein city out of the middle of my territorry.
Now, with in the last 20 - 40 turns every civ has came to me twice asking for a Mutual Protection Pact. I have turned them all down becuase I had problems getting involved in unwanted conflicts in my last game. Right now I am putting all my money into science and building up my Army Navy and Airforce, To be honest I Plan to amass a huge army with the best units, and the slaughter when I am strong enough. I turned off cultural, diplomatic victories. Both of my games I have been rome, and on a Huge map. Last game it was 16 civs, this game 8.

Basically what I want to know is this.... Whats decides wheter the AI will go to war and be aggressive with each other?

Atleast if AI attacks human player, you have bad military or you have rejected to pay tribute.

Anarres , it's correct . I'm selling tech . I'm playing PTW 1.21f . It goes like this :

Ottomans ---------------------------- ME ( Spain)

50 gpt Free Artistry

I was very carefull not to break deals , and I know what is considered as broken deal , It looks like he's planned to attack me , cause not wanting to pay 100 gold and ready to pay 50 gpt ( 1000+ ) with no deal broken , I have no other explanation

Hmm, can you post a save? That looks like a bug!

It is probably worth (for real) less than 100 gold if Shakespeare's theatre has been built, since Free Artistry is a dead-end tech and once the wonder is built the AI now recognises it's fairly useless.

The GPT offer definitely shouldn't happen if this is the case. I suggest accepting!

d. yes

Are you sure about this, I was under that if an AI declared war on YOU, cancelling a deal, they took at rep hit. I believe that when you give the ultimatum to leave, and they say no, they declare war on you, not you on them.

This was indeed the question I was asking. Thank you for clarifying...

I have a quick question. I know units heal fully in one turn if fortified in a town with a barracks. Does the same also apply to armies?

Well, that's fair given that they're armies. Do barracks tiles at least increase how fast they'll heal as compared to 'standard'?

How do I delete my saved games? I don't wish to keep all of them-rather just until the next time I play, or for awhile if I'm testing out different plays-but the number is growing.

Dunno. Never paid attention. But you'd think it would, wouldn't it?

EDIT: Padma beat me to this:
There's no way to delete saved games inside the program. You have to do it through windows. On my machine the path is MyComputer>hard drive>Program Files>Infogrames...>Civ3. If you have PTW loaded, you may have to go into that folder as well before you see one called Saves.

@Arnvid: I don't remember how to change the resolution but I know it's common knowledge here, so it shouldn't be long before someone posts!
