Lord Parkin: One Word: MODS
The Genghis Khan is okay, and Peloponnesian War mod is nice..

Could somebody please give me just a really short explanation where I can securely get that patch and what I am supposed to do with it to install it? Thanks, I guess I've never really patched anything (at least not successfully)

Are there mods that:

1. display how much movement point a unit will have after attack?
2. display combat odds if attacker and defender are reversed. eg. my xbow next to Lincoln's mace, if I attack, the odds are such; if he attacks, the odds are such.

oooh, I'd be interested in that.. if not, ask on the mod component thread

1st is really easy to work out, its the units current move points minus the movepoints required to move onto that tile if no unit was there.

So if your attacking an enemy on a hill or forest it costs 2 move points, if both it takes 3!
and if theres a road on yoru current tile and a road on the tile the enemy is on and your in your culture the attack will cost 1/3rd of a move points.

I'm not sure if guerrila or woodsman bonuses apply however, i've never tested specifically.

I'm not sure the second would be as useful as it first looks due to the nature of stack combat and collateral damage. Its common that your attacker would not be the top defender against the enemy unit that would attack you.

Like if this unit will die if it gets attacked or not, it would be useful for me at least.

Yeah, you get the extra resources to use / trade. They need to still be in your borders.
You do not get any production / food bonuses directly, but they can improve your corporation yield. (or increase health, happiness, enable units)

so it is wise to build as many cities as possible, so that every land improvement would belong to a city and wouldn't go waste?

Yes and no.

It is good to have all improvements under the BFC of a city. However, your maintainence will kill you if you overexpand.

Plan your cities around good resources. But don't create 'bad' cities just to get a resource under the BFC. (especially if the city won't have enough food or tiles due to overlapping).
You don't really need incense in your BFC...

Ideally you do want to claim those resources; extra health and/or especially happiness are almost always worth it, and even extra resources come in handy for trading and/or for corporations. But it may not be necessary to found cities near all of them. With a little careful planning, you can claim resources in dubious locations through border expansion. Build culture generating/multiplying buildings, run artist specialists, and/or build culture to accelerate the border pops until the resource is yours.

As for city maintenance, this becomes less of an issue as the game goes on and you obtain more ways of both dealing with it (courthouses, civics, etc.) and of increasing your overall revenue.

In addition, cities in "bad" locations may still be worthwhile. If there's a food resource available (such as crab or deer for arctic locations), the city may not be stellar but may still be productive. And certain corporations that provide extra food or hammers can put a "bad" city on par with other ones. Finally, if you're going for a domination win, every land tile you own counts toward the percentage needed to win, so you should found cities even in dubious locations as their tile ownership will help you win sooner.

I've lost my scoreboard (the civ summary at the bottom right). Not just the other teams. Me too. Anyone know how to get it back?

I do that when I play with time turned off. You can contact people through the foreign screen

This may sound like a silly question but I am playing a vanilla game and while getting some info on my rivals with a spy I noticed that the Germans are producing several SS parts and yet no one has completed the Apollo program. In my screens I am unable to build the components because Apollo has not been completed - is this a bug or am I missing something?
