Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

I made a new scenario in world-builder with a mod. I saved it in public maps and custum maps. But each time i try to open it the game chrashes? why oh why? The map is size huge, if that is rellevant.

Thanks for the help mjs0!!
I noticed last night as I was digging deeper into Isabellas land, that saladin was going at her from the other side.
A question though, I checked the "foreign advisor" and there was no war indicated between saladin and isabella, only between her and me. Shouldnt I have been able to see that I got help there?

Now my only problem is that I got help from a strong saladin with tanks and now he is just next door to me (I dont have access to coal/oil, so Im in trouble if I tick him off).
I guess I have learned that its better to deal with them myself, even though it would have been fun to use diplomacy and co-work IF I could trust that a AI that is "friendly", wont invade the next turn....
Thanks again (any thoughts on the foreign advisor WAR indicator?) //Sten

I'm pretty sure if they were at war you should see it there.
Perhaps you were checking several turns later in which case your supposed ally may already have negotiated peace. (This is another problem I have with defensive pacts, the ally often seems to duck out of the war very quickly. It would be nice if the pact assured you of a certain number of turns of support.)
Not sure what else it could be, sorry.

Where i can get information about coming SDK for modders?
When it will be released and what features gives to modders?
Thank you.

Hey, Got to Know!

Do Grenadiers get the +50 attack vs Readcoats, or only vs Rifleman?

How many turns does a game take and is this value being influenced by other parameters (such as Game Speed)?

How do I get a custom avatar at CivFanatics?

I THINK it is 540 for normal games. It is infuenced by game speed. You can find out ont the victory conditons page, F8.

Yes, they have the same class.

If im not mistaken, 430 turns.
Ancient era - 75 turns (4000BC - 1000BC, 40 years per turn)
Classical era - 60 turns (-500AD, 25 ypt)
Midevil - 25 (-1000AD, 20ypt)
Renassiance - 50 (-1500AD, 10ypt)
Industrial - 70 (-1850, 5ypt)
Modern - 50 (-1950, 2ypt)
Future - 100 (-2050, 1ypt)

Quick speed halves number of turns, epic speed - 645 turns (+50%)

Oh, thanks.
I was in a hurry, so unfortunelately I just started a new thread about it.
Well, then the Redcoats are not as good as I hoped, but it would have been very unbalanced if they were "immune" to the grenades

Financial civs, here's the scenario:

A tile with no commerce initially. You build a cottage that yields one commerce on the tile. The cottage turns into a hamlet which yields two commerce - does that change to three immediately?

What I'm really asking is whether their trait applies to how much commerce a tile has undeveloped, or whether it changes to 3 commerce immediately after reaching two no matter what's on the tile.

Did anyone work out what is going on with war wereiness and police state? ATM I am on PS, it says No War :( but my cities have WW?
Version 1.52 if it makes any difference.

Thank you, Samson, Frostyboy and Dmitryn.

I'm a bit confused now. I was thinking that you'll go to another era when you reach a certain technology. I.e. Classical era starts when you've learned Iron Working, Alphabet, etc. Are you sure that the date is related to the era's?

Yes. Couldn't you just try it and see?

It's supposed to be -50% WW. Some of the documentation is wrong or misleading.

I guess it is -50% then. JJust to confirm, I am talking about what it says on the F3 screen, not the documentation.

Isn't a 'Quick Answer' thread with 63 pages a contradiction? Nothing quick about reading it.

You aren't supposed to read it. You are supposed to post your questions here and people will post answers. So you only need to read the new messages to get the answer.

It says quick answer, not quick read. You can ask any cIV-related question here without having to search the fora and people will respond very quickly.

Thanks for that reply, Dmitryn.

However, I was thinking that you'll go to another era when you reach a certain technology. I.e. Classical era starts when you've learned Iron Working, Alphabet, etc. I did a test, started a Civ with Bronze Working and 2 hamlets. In a couple of turns they learned Iron Working and they got to the Classical Era at 3050 BC. The era clearly isn't related to the date, but I'm guessing that you were just giving average dates instead. I was just a bit confused by your explanation.

F8 says a quick game takes 320 turns, a marathon game takes 1200 turns. Thanks, Samson.
