I'm afraid I don't know off the top of my head, but I'd love to see .sav of this...

You need twice the culture of your nearest opponet. In this case, in order to win the game this turn, you would need 243,602 culture to win it.

Urgh, the 160k already took long enough... :(

Well, just continued the game and since I've grown pretty tired of this particular one and culture would take to long, I nuked India from the face of the world, thereby reducing overall world population and so increasing my percentage of it. Again, why is it no win? Do I need both population and land area?

Hello!

I want to reinstall Civ3 on my Desktop. In which file / directory are the high scores saved?

C:\ ---> Program Files ---> Infogrames Interactive ---> Civilization III ---> Highscores

If you have PTW, then go into "Civ3Ptw" after "Civilization III"
It's similar if you have Conquests (not the same), but I don't have it on this pc, and I can't be bothered to look ;)

I'm proceeding pretty well on Regent with a huge Earth map as the English (started in Northern France) against the max # of AI opponents. I've got all of Europe, about half of Asia, and about a third of Africa toward the end of the Industrial Era, and about a 2-3 tech lead on the Ottomans (Australia), China (Brazil) and Spain (East Africa and a lot of Asia), and ten or so minor civs.

My question is, how does one avoid a Diplomatic defeat (or victory, for that matter) when the Diplo victory is enabled and someone can build the UN? I've made a lot of enemies, and if I need to take any AI city that's building the UN I will, but can I build it myself and then just never hold a vote?

It gives you the option whether you want to hold the vote or not. So you don't have to. A more costly way, is to sabotage the production of the AI's city that's building the wonder. This way isn't as safe though...

Excellent, thanks. I fully expect both the Ottomans and the Chinese to build it (I'm probably going to own Eurasia and Africa 100% by the time it comes up) so I'd prefer to just control it myself rather than try to keep both of them from building it. :mwaha:

Simple question- how do they work? I've never seen the AI use them for any particular reason...

You've never seen an AI army??
Sometimes, completely out of the blue, the AI will build a wonder. This may not be because of a leader, but I tend to blame 'em anyways -- I couldn't have the computer outbuilding me ;)
I've not seen any discussions/threads about the AI's use of leaders since i've been here, but from my experience, they mostly use them to create armies.

Mr. Do, what version of Civ are you using? I've seen reports of [c3c] not building armies, ever!

I'm using Conquests, latest version. So they never build armies, ever? That's dumb.

Still, the case I'm thinking of in particular was my latest game where the Mongols got a military leader when they were down to their last two cities... since they clearly didn't build a much-needed army, what would they have used him for? Rushing a basic improvement?

True. It's not intended behaviour. It's been reported as a bug, so hopefully it will get fixed in a patch.

Yes. Sad, isn't it

Searching in the forums is still disabled eh? Its been a few months since I've played but with a bit of time I've been able to squeeze a few games in - bummer to find that this hasn't been resolved yet.

FYI - vBulletin seems to have a 3.0.0 Gamma version available (used on the Strategy First EU boards: http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/ )

Hope these forums can get up to speed on that soon!

Oaktown crew eh Turner_727? Still in the Bay Area?

Oddible: You should have posted that down in Site Feedback. ;) Anyway, the search function being turned off has nothing to do with VB3 - it has to do with server load. TF hopes for another upgrade soon.

And TF is also aware of the VB3 gamma release. I expect to see this site on VB3 before the year is out.

That's because you could not resist to run a lovely anarchy as government at some point.;)
It's actually sort of a bug.
Here's a recent thread about it.

Try OCC and never switch from despotism to get consistent counters...:D

I am playing Civ III conquests and am wanting to change rules in a current game. Ie change unit abilities, hit points, movement, etc... I don't want to start an entire other game even if it is started in a modern era. I want the same map, same units, everything from the saved game, just a few tweaks. Does anyone know how I can do this?!

Edit: Or is there a program out there that will convert save files to scenario files?

@Ingxoxo - As far as I know, no. You can tweak some things with Gramphos' Multi Tool. Check the Utility programs sub forum in Creation and Customization.

Of course, you could always hack the .sav file. Don't ask me how to do that, tho.
