A still more glorious dawn awaits
Not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise
A morning filled with 400 billion suns
The rising of the milky way

Let me guess who you were :mischief:

That might have been more challenging for you if I wasn't logged in :mischief:

Currently in my paste buffer is (hopefully) my farewell speech to the gay marriage thread.

@ opposition to gay marriage:

Current mood: disappointed

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

I find it interesting that when a Louisiana justice of the peace denies an interacial couple marriage in 2009, the act is called bigotry and the justice of the peace forced to resign. But in the same month, when a public vote to strip gays and lesbians of marriage rights granted by a state legislature is held and those rights are stripped away, its called democracy.

The U.S. Constitution guarantees "equal protection under the law" for all persons under its jurisdiction (14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause). Therefore, if heterosexual couples can enter into a legally recognized marriage partnership, it logically follows that homosexual couples, who pay taxes that support the system, are allowed that same equal opportunity. Furthermore, in Loving v. Virginia (1967), the case upon which the Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognized the legality of marriage equity, the U.S. Supreme Court stated that one could not help who they fell in love with, nor should the government have the power to dictate it. Finally, the First Amendment's Establishment Clause separates religion from politics, and visa-versa, which eliminates religious considerations from matters of state.

Therefore, both my wife Bonnie and I hope for the day Americans get their head out of their asses, and allow same-sex couples the wedded bliss that we have savored for over 20 years!

@ MobBoss:
I don't know how to get this through to some of you so I am giving it one last try. I am a Christian, I am straight, I am a loving mother of three beautiful girls. I love everyone and I do not pass my judgments onto others. You may say being gay is a sin and quote the Bible all you want, your #1 sin is passing your judgments on people. We are all sinners. If we weren't Jesus would not have died for us. Try focusing on LOVE NOT JUDGE!! Get it?????

so, your religious beliefs should determine the lives of others? I'm sorry, but your faith doesn't give you the right to deny other people rights

kay.... thanks.... bbai.

I have a habit of selecting text I'm reading. Here's my middle click right now, right from the post above me.
