Quick Questions and Answers

how to label a hex tile with text? In civ4, the hotkey is [alt]+, but what is the hotkey in civ5? what are some frequently used hotkeys (non unit related)? I only know [cltr]+[r] for toggling resources.

also, hot to queue productions in the city? Thanks

Pretty sure that you cant label hexes in civ 5 sadly.

To queue production first click on the city name, then it will bring up the city menu. On the left side, there will be a small box in the bottom left bar saying "queue production". Check that and it will let you add to the queue.

As Carl said, you can't in regular CiV. However, there is a mod out there that allows you to place pins and lable a hex. See Map Pins in the Steam Workshop. It also has an addon, the Auto Map Pins.

Sorry I didn't read all 101 pages so if it's been asked I apologize.
Is there a mod that stops other civs from declaring war? I want to be the only one with that power for a game or 2. :king:

AFAIK the answer is no. If you don't want them to declare war on you because your just learning the game then I suggest a low difficulty level were they are less aggressive.

Anyway you've got to learn about war some time... ;)

So I discovered iron, upgraded two swordsmen and now it's gone? Is that it? Will i ever get more?

If you get more iron in your territory and mine it, trade with another civ to get iron, or your swordsmen get killed, then you will get more iron that you can use.

Have you possibly already won a victory some other way (such as diplomatic)? Did you disable a Science victory when setting up the game? Are you past the ending year (2050)? If none of those suggestions help, please post a save file.

I think my son disabled all alternate victories when he was playing, and I missed it when I set up the game.

I won via domination, so it all worked out. :)

Hi there!

1. I played a single player game. Saved, stopped the game, loaded and all combat animations are now gone. I how do I turn these on again?
2. Is there any way to increase size of the fonts in game (could be mod)? The icons of the interface are just fine, but the small fonts give me headache.
3. It says that Elizabeth of England has +2 movement to floating units, does that apply to embarked units?

Thank you very much in advance, even if there is no way to fix these!

Regards,
Oldman

1. While in-game click "Menu" then "Options" then "Game Options" and change check Single Player Combat Animations.
2. Not that I know of, sorry :(
3. Yes, it does.

stupid question: ive watched a lot of Lets Plays and many use something to show these icons on the improvable tiles (wheat, cattle, luxes, etc). i cant find any setting in the options to let me also see those circle icons over the tiles. i thought id try to see if i like it or if its too much to look at. late game finding coal and aluminum is a small chore if i dont have that enabled.

another question: if you upgrade a Pictish Warrior to a Pikeman, do they retain the +faith/kill benefit?

the hotkey for toggling resources on and off are [Ctrl] + [R]

I want to block a water tile with fish so it will not be used by the inhabitants of the enemy city. But there is an archer in the city so I am afraid to place my naval unit too close to the city.
What distance from the tile with fish it will be enough to position my trireme in order to block the tile?

ok, thanks. ill try that when i load the next game. i wonder why that isnt in the options menu though. i dont know all the short-key functions or where to find a list of them.

If I take a city that belonged to a civ taken out of the game, do they come back, or only if it is their captial?

Will buying their captial/cities back work, or just via war?

If I used the "Shall we declare war against..." option, is there a way to get only the person I asked to declare it, and not myself?

How would you suggest I handle liberating a civ currently owned by a civ I am friends with and has a much bigger military than my own?

EDIT: Say I asked Civ A "Shall we declare war against..." civ B. Civ A wanted 10 turns to prepare. If I pay Civ B to fight Civ A, will I then not have to join the fight once the ten turns pass?

EDIT 2: No longer need any answers, the first World War of this save just broke out. Though is there a way to access those rankings that pop up from time to time whenever? like, "Who likes shiny things the most"?

Persia (Superpower, by far has the strongest military, over 20,000 military points), 2 city states, and the Ottomons vs. Egypt (superpower, has over 15,000 gold, second largest military, over 10,000 points), Romans (Superpower), Byzantium, Greeks (me), and 8 city states.

Is there a way to run mods automatically from the desktop shortcut? I used this all the time in Civ4 for playing FFH, and I'd love to do the same in Civ5 with the RED modpack.

Thanks!

I was wondering how long negative diplomatic modifiers last for. For instance, how long must you be at peace before people no longer think you are a war mongerer? How long until they finally let go that you denounced a friendly civ?
