Quick Questions and Answers

Is the ability of Great Admiral to travel the seas before you get Astronomy considered to be a bug? Especially since you can get one a lot quicker from the 'Naval Tradition' policy.

Definitely a feature, not a bug. He's a Great Admiral, after all, and if you're willing to risk him sailing the high seas unescorted you should get rewards for doing so.

I admit I am guilty of doing #2 a fair bit.

I just find it a little annoying that you have Diplomacy in the game and yet you still have to have a fairly strong military Aspect to your Civ if you want any hope of surviving to late game.

Another thing I don't like is when you choose England as your Civ. Why doesn't it start you on an Island. Not a massive thing but a little annoying.

Any who...Thanks for reply clearbeard. Is Much Appreciated:)

"Fairly strong" really varies from game to game, but 3 archers/composite bowmen and 1 warrior/swordsman is usually enough to stave off most of the "you're so weak I just can't help myself" wars.

Flavor starts put England on a smaller landmass relatively often, and (almost) always on the coast. I don't think the start bias looks more than a few tiles away though, so coast is all you should really expect.

Don't know what Flavor starts is

As for Military. I rarely get in to Ren Era before being attacked by somebody. I often have more Military units then what you said too.

But I'm still a newb and still learning. I'll try and remember point 2 from your previous post and see if that is the cause of most of my issues.:)

By "flavor starts" I think he meant "start bias". Some of the civs have start biases (Note: they are not start "guarantees") that are designed to give them some opportunity to make good use of their UA or some UU or UB. England's start bias is ocean (coastal). Denmark, the Ottomans, Polynesia and Spain have the same start bias.

Check out this thread for other civs' start biases.

So basically it just means you have more chance being in an area suitable to the Civ.

There's almost no danger to an early Great General. Finish your turn on ocean and nothing can touch you, unless you go out of your way to be near a barbarian archer.

(Or I guess Polynesia might exist, and you could go out of your way to be at war with them.)

I guess it does provide an interim step between Astronomy and the Polynesian head start.

Does the cathedral can build only if my civilization is christian?
And what's about the pagoda and the mosque?

When a religion is founded or enhanced, one option you get is to pick one or more of those buildings to be associated with that religion. The name (and symbol) of the religion has no bearing on anything until it is founded and defined in that game. You could, for instance, found a religion, pick the Star of David as your symbol, rename it Islam, choose to allow pagodas as your follower ability, and then pick cathedrals as an additional follower ability when you enhance your religion.

It varies with leader personality. A good rule of thumb I've found is that if there's space to settle another city between your new city and the AI's existing cities, he'll not take offense. If it's an expansionist civ, or if you're racing a settler he's already built for a given spot he's much more likely to object. On the other hand, if a leader has decided to run a tall, cultural game you can likely nestle right up on his borders without getting his panties in a bunch.

Seems it can even happen from natural border expansion too, because my last game I settled ten hexes away from Ethiopia (I swear that's like the fourth time in a row he was my opponent), and he didn't complain for a few turns.

The answer of my question is no?

OK
thank you

Is there a way for me to take back (or expire) my denunciation of someone?

Example: I denounce a civ, and DoW on it. Beat it up, take some cities, get some resources. After we negotiate peace, I'd like to patch up relations with the civ, and do some good trading. Is there a way to clear the "DENOUNCED" diplo modifier?

I've noticed that when an AI denounces me, after some long number of turns there's a message that so-an-so's denunciation no longer has any effect on world leaders. I want to do that, too.

It does that automatically with your denouncements as well. IIRC it's 50 turns on normal game speed, but I don't think the game gives you a notice when yours expires, nor is there any convenient way to see how long any of the "discuss" diplomacy options have left in general.

1.In G&K, why does the pictish warrior replaces spearman and not warrior or sword man?

2.What is the warrior's weapon ?

I haven't done MP in a while, but does upon researching tech/building wonders/ etc not bring up the pop up that says that you've done so? Is it just the little icon in the bottom right?

I know campaign does it, not sure if MP used to do it or not.

1. Game balance, in some form. They wanted the pict UU to be later than the warrior level ones, like Jaguars, but earlier than the classical swordsman replacements.

2. A club or stone mace of some kind, near as I can tell. Or if you're talking the Pictish warrior's weapon, a sword, probably bronze.

IIRC, there is an ini file somewhere that lets you re-enable some of these effects. But yes, most of the splash screens and animations are disabled by default in multiplayer, including the research and wonder ones.

In CivV G&K, is there a way to add signs to the map? Ala ALT-S in Civ4.

Hello

Can anyone tell me the exact maximum amount of money you can get by trading your lux-ress. on epic speed? Does it change on different difficulties?
