Quick Questions and Answers

Two questions that weren't answered. If anyone knows this please tell me. Thank you.

1. How many hammers do Great Engineers give to the city when you use them to rush a building or project?

2. How much gold does a Merchant produce when used on a CS?

2. How much gold does a Merchant produce when used on a CS?

1. Base hammers is 300, I think, which is modified by map size, game speed, and perhaps difficulty level.

2. Base gold is 350, plus 50 per era, again modified (I think) by map size, speed, and perhaps difficulty.

How do they reproduce...? And so quickly?

Well, when a man loves a woman very much, they store up a lot of food and become a settler unit to find a place to make babies.

Or if you mean how does the AI get so many units so quickly, they cheat. Or rather, they play by a different set of rules on building, maintenance, etc. than the human player does. This is true on the "even" Prince setting, though less so. Fear not, typical kill ratios in war with the AI are in the 10:1 to 100:1 range.

Anyone else having trouble with alt-tabbing out of the game? I have to alt-tab twice to get out.

Anyone know if you can reassign or add quickkeys?

Seems like alot of the controls require you to grab your mouse and move it to a button and push the button and then actually do something like set production for a city. Why not just shortcut that mousey stuff and hit the "P" Key to send me right to the production queue? Seems like the developers made an extra effort to mandate the use of a mouse to keep it from being to automated I guess. More importantly, many of the quick key assignments aren't remotely intuitive. Like a sub "bombing" a ship. Why not use the "T" key for torpedo?

Also, is there any way to get the screen to stay in one bloody spot until I tell it to move?

The game is dizzying as the screen rockets randomly across the globe to units waiting orders and then back to the unit right next to the one it started at. I tried turning off the auto-unit-switch function but the game seems to ignore my settings routinely. Not only annoying but this can mess up your turns when the screen rips you away from a locale you were contemplating.

Overall the gameplay is excellent but the UI has issues that kill my enjoyment.

Previously owned CIV 2,3 & 4. Bought Civ 5 this week.

What is a declaration of friendship?

What is a denoucement?

Is it possible to trade maps?

Is it poosibile to track down a unit? I sent my ship of exploring and now I've no idea where it is.

If I can not stack how to I protect the infantry ship with my destroyer? Is ship escorting not possible.

What is a declaration of friendship?
Announces to the AI that you are allied with that player. It will make the civ that you befriend and their allies more likely to like you. It will also make their enemies hat you more.
What is a denoucement?
A decalration that you and that player are enemies. It is similar to a declaration of friendship, though who is made happy and unhappy is reversed. The denounced civ's friends will like you less, and their enemies will become more friendly to you.
Is it possible to trade maps?
No.

I believe that if you bring up your unit list (should be a button in the top, left hand corner) and you click on the unit name (it also tells you what the unit's current orders are) then it will show you where that unit is.

What I do is keep a Destroyer nearby it and then place the Destroyer on alert (you do have to wake the Destroyer evey turn though). This is one thing that I don't like about 1 upt. I'd like to see embarked units treated like non-combat units. The only possible problem with this would be the Songhai's possible exploit of this system (Their embarked units can defend themselves).
Anybody get the tomb raider achievement?
I haven't, though apparently 0.3% of the people who own the game have.

What is 1 upt?

This Civ seems to be the biggest from a previous version.

I'm not mad about the diplomacy. Can't seem to agree to anything.

, though apparently 0.3% of the people who own the game have.

They need to fix that.

Oh well... I got another rare achievement (apparently) the Spirit of the Longhouse one or whatever. [going by what i read on a website a few months back, I may be wrong though]

Doesn't it seem hypocritical or unfair that you can have a civilian (Settler, Worker, Great Person) and a military unit on one hex/tile, and yet you can't have a military ship defend a transport? This is why I think Polynesia's ability is too risky, unless you use the +1 sight bonus on water to your advantage and pray that an out-of-sight Barbarian or enemy ship is lurking nearby.

Little itty bitty problemo.

I have downloaded mods but can't play them because there seems to be no screen from which a play option can be accessed.

Help!

Help! Can anyone refer me to a thread where the Mods problem is dealt with?

Just because i can, i started training my first warrior.
After enough experience it reached level 3 but it got stuck after 30 exp. there..
Why is this and is this normal?

That's how much XP an unit can gain from Barbarian units, if you want it to advance you have to wage war with another civilization.

Do you have any screenshots of the process? It might be an idea to post in the relevant thread for the mod in question, most likely found in C & C (if it's a Civfanatics created mod).
