Quick Questions and Answers

Does anyone know how to be able to control more than one civ? I have heard you can use Firetuner for this, but I don't know how. Does anyone know how to control other civs using firetuner, or is there another way?

How come the map types fractal, terra etc are unavailable in ver 217? Does this occur to everyone or is it only due to the dlc's I dl'd a few days ago?

How to raze a city after making it your puppet or annexing it ? I have looked up everywhere and can't believe it is so difficult to find. I was offered peace with one of the AIs and he gave away almost all his cities and boom went my happiness to -69 :((..
Please help me get rid of useless cities.

THanks

@ Goyal: If you click on a city, it should appear as an option. it should say Raze City, under buy tiles, or around that area.

This is true for Annexed cities. Go into the city and click on Raze. For Puppeted cities, clicking on the city gives you the option to leave as a puppet or annex. You need to annex it before you can raze it. But be careful, former City States and former Capitol cities cannot be razed (unless you are playing One City Challenge, in which case they auto-raze when you capture them).

Thanks for your replies. I knew I had to annex it before razing but wasn't sure. I tried to look for an option in my own cities but couldn't find one and thought it wasn't there. But I believe only the captured cities (non-cap and city states) can be raZed..

Yeah, that's right. You cannot raze a city you settled yourself, afaik.

That is correct, you cannot raze any city you built yourself: only captured, annexed, non-capitol cities.

I do not have any of the pay DLC, but I do have access to all of the map types you mention. The only way to access them is through the setup game --> advanced setup menu. Only the base 5 or so are available through the quicker game start options.

In my civ, only the map earth is available in map types in set up menu.... Terra, fractal etc is not available in advance menu.. It kinda depresses me :(

Assuming it's not a mod issue as Arioch suggests, sounds like a bug in your game. Check out the bug forum to see if anyone else has this problem, and if not post a note there to see if anyone can help.

Does anyone know what causes the AI to denounce you? I'm currently pretty far into my latest campaign, and I'm doing quite well. I got lucky and spawned on a small continent with only one other civ. I wiped them out quickly, and have been just casually expanding.

I met Greece, and after about 20 turns of trade, they denounced me. Roughly a thousand years later, I meet America, and they denounce me after agreeing to several trade agreements. China denounces me on the very turn I meet them.

I haven't gone to war in over 2000 years, nor have I expanded near anyone. Why are they so angry at me? This makes no sense t.t;

Any tips much appreciated!

You can see why the AI are angry at you by hovering over the status (Friendly/Hostile/Guarded) word. Or on one of the diplo screens.

Don't bother trying to make sense of the denouncements.:crazyeye:

There may be some tips in the strategy section on diplomacy, but its hard to know which patch they refer to, sometimes.

how do you get rid of a building you don't want?

Click (maybe right click, can't remember just now) on the building in the list on the right side of the city screen. This should bring up a dialogue about selling the building. Very handy for getting rid of all but one barracks after building the heroic epic!

cost wise, upgrading units vs direct buying, are they the same or is there a monetary difference?

what's the math/algorithm behind buying and upgrading units?

thanks

Upgrading is cheaper than buying (even more so if you pick up the Professional Army social policy in the Honor tree), but I'm not sure about the exact maths involved. :)

I believe it effects how fast your influence decays once you gain it. Hostile is the worst and friendly is the best (I think).

Do city-state personalities have any real effect on the game?

I believe it effects how fast your influence decays once you gain it. Hostile is the worst and friendly is the best (I think).

The primary effect is in the probabilities for the different missions (e.g. build a road to capitol, get X great person, build a wonder, kill an enemy city state, etc). Additionally, influence with hostile CS decays 25% faster (all the others are the same, base decay rate). In real game terms, the only effect I generally notice is the hostile penalty. City state missions do not affect my games much at all.

a quick question.
if there is ONLY one way to win the game from the start as i select in advanced setup
do all the AI's automatically hate me for trying to win the same way?
