I have just moved up to King difficulty and have encountered something unexpected. I have read several forum posts on playing King and have not seen it mentioned before. I've even watched the early (first 50 or so) turns of several King YouTube videos without seeing this. In my games, whenever one of the civs meets me or any other, they immediately denounce them. With every civ denouncing every other, it is impossible to get reasonable trade deals for luxuries (even 1 for 1 trades). Is this normal? I am playing BNW with the latest patch.
@stancollins, no that is not normal. Beyond that, AIs denouncing other AIs should not interfere with your own trade deals with them.
Stancollins this shouldn't be happening. Are you using a mod ?
I have had that happen with unmodded games.I've even had them offer a declaration of friendship then denounce me the turn after I've accepted it.
I think you some troubleshooting to do. I cannot help as I don't bother much with mods myself. Load all the most popular ones, see if you get this behavior. If not, add half the remaining ones in. Keeping adding in mods until you can replicate the bad behavior.Several, actually, but none that I would think would cause this. Is this peculiar to any particular mod?
No.Does destroying barabarian encampments count towards Warmonger status?
Yes, huge warmonger hit for wiping out a civ.I took it and puppeted it, wiping out the Shoshone.
You become less well regarded when you are denounced. Then you get denounced because you are not well regarded. It is kind of vicious! My Warmonger status has gone from looking like they were concerned to being fearful of my antics plunging the world into a new dark ages. It wasn't like that in the few turns after the war.
Yes. No. That is way the game is programmed. It takes some getting used to, and the diplomacy can be tricky.Does this all sound legitimate? Is there something subtle I've missed regarding diplomacy?
No.

I'm still getting those messages about picking on other civs, despite having the largest military in the world.
Hopefully other civs have spotted me churning out Cho-Ko-Nus and may start trading with me again.
If I end up starting another war they've only got themselves to blame, for ignoring me.
Are you sure none of your mod touch diplomacy ?
The messages are just for flavor and sometimes they are ironic. So you may get messages about your pathetic military or weak culture -- even when you lead on those counts.
In my effort to fix my issue with denunciations I unsubscribed from ALL mods and ran several tests which did not have the problem. I then added back one of the mod civs which I had recently added and suspected may be a culprit and started a new game with just this mod. This is what I got.
Help please.
The speed at which an AI religion spreads is BS in some games. I just started playing lvl 6 and have been doing 'okay' for the most part but I just played a game where nearly all my cities converted and none of a another AI's cities did and they were closer to the original holy city.
I just quit that game. It wasn't a bad start per se but I can't stand when the AI's hacks are just that BS.
