Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Espionage seems to work differently than what I remember from a few years back. Can I read about it anywhere?

As Venice, it seems as though Venice itself can work the fourth ring of city tiles, while my puppets can only work to the standard third ring limit. Is that by design?

Yes, it's by design. Only your capital when it's finished the Tradition tree gets the fourth ring.
Capitals are the only cities that benefit from finishing the Tradition tree to get the fourth ring bonus.

Regarding the roman fornix, how does the built limit work in detail: can you conquer civ 1, conquer civ 2, then build fornix 1 and then fornix 2? Or, will you be able to build only one fornix after killing 2 civs, without building the first fornix before the next civ elimination?

And: if you finish one fornix, and there is an ongoing WLTKD, are 10 turns added to the current duration, or ist it reset to 10 turns?

Do you mean like this?

It's difficult to get it right since it's hardcoded with the UI code. You have to edit it yourself just for that.

Also, minimap EUI code already has the capability of resizing, it's just there's an Antiquity Sites UI mod that VP uses that overrides it.
I have to manually disable the UI mod just for this. I think I can combine the EUI version with the UI mod.

If you really want to do this, then you have to make a sacrifice to disable the UI mod by renaming the file or deleting it.
The location is here:

Rename the MinimapPanel files and the OverlayAntiquities_MiniMapOverlayHook file, so then it won't be loaded by the game.

Then go to this file, and edit the "Size" section of the highlighted line to match the config file.

The religion map is wholly different than the minimap. It can't be just translated like that since the minimap is what the game does and the religion map is a Lua trickery.
Ok, so a while back I wanted to make the minimap bigger in the game. I haven't played Vox populi in easily a year and this trick used to work. A lot of changes have been made since the last time I played. MiniMapPanel.lua had some codding changed in it and both the overlay and minimap files are no longer in the same places. When I try to use the old trick with the new files, I get the image posted.
The trick still works for vanilla CIV 5, just not Vox populli. Could anyone direct me to a way of making this work?

Is there any point in building improvements on tiles outside city radius?(ok,except for tiles containing resources)

Adjacency bonuses
Thanks but what exactly do you mean by "adjacency"? Do that really counts towards city yields? For example: if I build a mine on a hill outside city radius, does the city get the extra production yield of the mine?

Nope.
Farms gets additional food for every 2 other adjacent farms. If you have two farm on the 3rd ring of a city, you will want to build a 3rd farm outside of city range to give bonuses to your two first farms.
Same for Lumber-mills, and some other UIs (the Moai being the first to come to mind).

Thanks, very thorough explanation.
Forts and citadels are also improvements that are frequently built outside of working range of a city.
Yeah, it makes sense,thanks.

Here's the link to the original proposal. Espionage has been modified since then but I think it gives a good overview.

I think with the in game editor you can take control of another civilization. I'm not sure if it persists through the turn or not.

The aim is not to switch to another civ in the game at their starting location, but to replay the original position with another civ. Is that possible? Maybe by savegame editing?

The position is in the middle of several close warmongers. I want to try with which civ I can survive that.

Has there been, or has anyone considered making, a guide or pinned thread with strategy guides or anything like that? I've seen lifeordeath2077 has some guides on Steam; I don't know if he's an active user on here? Otherwise, there is some good info if you search well enough on here although a lot of it is buried deep in threads or in random posts I might come across.

There is a subsection in this forum call "Strategy and Tutorials". The link is up there on the front page.

Thanks. I've seen that, but it's a bit all over the place and not everything is covered. I'm aware I could ask my own questions, but I was more just wondering if there was some sort of guide.
