Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Ok, now I am confused, I thought @DonStill chose the insulting reply, the AI said it would declare war, but in the end it did not.

Or is it that the AI choses to accept your insult and decide not to declare war? If this is the case, then they have a reason for it as @tu_79 said. In my games they sometimes do declare war.

My spies seem to get killed a lot on the last turn I would steal a tech. Is this just RNG or is there something for this?
From my knowledge, similarly to vanilla Civ 5, spies are ONLY killed when they are about to steel a tech (or a great work, for VP).

When you insult them, then they're like aw man he's stronger than me okay never mind forget about what I said.

However if you insult them and they're like lol this city-state insults me? (Declare War!)

Hi .. How does an AI pick a particular ideology? If I am first to pick an ideology, can i influence the other civs to pick the an ideology similar or different to mine .. eg by sharing religion, high tourism, trading etc?

Yes, and my my impression was that when this happened to @DonStill , the war was actually NOT declared - which would clearly be a bug.

But after seeing the further conversation, it seems that he is always getting the other reply (and not being declared war on), which could be explained. Hence my question.

So @DonStill , which one is it? :-)

No, I always rebuke them and then they'll say they'll cut my tongue out or whatever the text it is, but get no declaration of war or the text saying there was a DoW under it. It's definitely a bug I think, because their text implies they're going to war with me, but literally nothing changes when it's my turn again.

Is it possible to play the Civ 5 scenarios with Vox Populi? I cannot seem to load them (with a modpack).

well if u tell me what text u get i can tell if u misinterpreted it as war or not

I know that spies can steal great works from non-capital cities. Can they steal artifacts too?

man why cant i buy tiles? reinstalled everything and using 12-18 version, no other mods. At what point in the game can you buy tiles?

Edit: Figured it out, you need to press the gold icon in the upper left corner in the city screen to purchase tiles

How do you guys manage Happiness on the current patch (12-18)?

I almost always go Authority first (enjoy going to war :D), but my happiness is often very low in Ancient to Medieval eras - even if I avoid building army and just spam buildings all the time.

For example, in my current game I barely managed to get +8 (Medieval era), and I did my best to build as much science / culture (no army :(). If now I start building units and even capture 1 city, it will almost certainly go down to -5 or similar. Not even talking about 2+ cities...

Do I have to sacrifice natural citizen growth instead?

Is there a way to prioritize production to have a 'healthy' empire? I normally go food > production > science > culture, but perhaps that's not the right way...

Especially in early game, I would never give food a higher priority than production. Once your cities have 3 citizens, I'd even exchange 2 food for 1 production most of the time. Also, I feel that it's the right strategy to pretty much ignore happiness in the early game (first 100 turns at least), at least anything over -10 happiness. Expansion and getting your production started is more important at that stage.

You can go food, just don't work too much food with your workers. And you should increase your culture priority.

Does the approval demographic correspond to happiness? Meaning, if I have the highest approval, does that mean I have more happiness than any other player?

has the game become significantly harder the past months? i used to win deity fairly easy but now i get crushed. Also warring seems to be much harder now, i think thats a good thing though. Well time to get back to learning and improving!

I feel the same thing. I mean, all those AI improvements G did have to amount to something, right? :)
