Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Have U guys cheated ;) I used to be able to beat vanilla civ 5 at every level (with 1710 hours of vanilla gaming), but with your mod (VP) I can't even beat it at "King" lol. Admittedly it is a long time since I've played civ5, but still. If you guys haven't just pumped up the AI with all sorts of benefits, but actually made it so much more clever you are modding Gods and Firaxis should offer you all jobs at once - if the current strength of the VP AI is due to you making it smarter I'm totally gobsmacked!

VP's AI is significantly more clever.
Additionally, it has significantly less starting bonuses (including no free techs) whatever the difficulty. And in general far less bonuses in the early-mid game.
However, one of VP's feature is that the AI has more and more bonuses from difficulty as time advance, which allow the AI to "catch back" player in the late game.

There are a few vital differences, even more so with the recent betas.
Step away from tradition and test other policys, forget about the 4 city turtle to space game (probably still possible but by far not optimal anymore).
Some claim VP is 2 difficulties harder that is prob if you were a diety player, at most one for me but I didnt play bnw higher than emperor.

As Moi mentioned the AI in VP cheats far far less than in vanilla.
AI doesnt get free settlers on diety (they got 2 or 3 in BNW diety).
Here are AI bonuses regarding difficulty.
https://civ-5-cbp.fandom.com/wiki/AI_and_Difficulty

The AI is so much better at wars so beware, don't build flat land cities with no defensive line near the AI.
Culture and hammers is seen by a lot of players as more important than science.

And yes I reload here and there when I make mistakes.
Its a single player game and whatever makes you enjoy the game is valid.
Playing on king but stomping to easy on recent patch so I guess I should step up to Emperor.

Most diety players are crazy good at war and I feel, really understand things that I don't.
There are also settings and map layouts that alter the difficulties that you can use to make the game easier or harder without changing the difficulty.

Thanx for both answers, very useful! And yes I've gathered that you need more cities now than in vanilla games to have a chance of winning. And what U tell me fulfill my hopes for VP: a very, very much smarter AI than what Firaxis has produced - super!

With regard to warfare: Yes, the AI is very good, but it has one fault that I've noticed: To much kamikaze when it comes to taking cities, to many expensive melee units hammered into city defences and lost - losses that could be avoided be letting siege units play a more significant role. Maybe that is one of the reasons why very good players can beat the VP AI at high difficult levels: The AI loses to many units (trying to take cities)...

Do you realize that these guys have been improving the game for five years? While some of us gave them ideas and feedback on mechanics, they were busy tweaking city management, grand strategy logics, pathfinding, multiple front wars, advanced recon, resupply lines, choke points, and even some basic stuff like allowing ranged units to move and shoot in the same turn (something vanilla AI was unable to).
Moreso, when you move to immortal, suddenly AI is able to kill your units in a single turn (maybe they bring more units to the combat, but in Emperor, your units can still retire from combat and heal), so you have to really understand and dominate combat if you want to survive.

A few pages back someone mentioned TR restrictions with Venice. If I understand this right, for example, Venice could send multiple TR's to Monty's capital, all of them originating from Enrico's capital?

No. The restriction that is lifted is each civ only being able to target another city once. So let's say Enrico has 4 cities, 4 trade routes and trade units, and Monty has 4 cities in range. Normally, each civ could only target a city once. So one city would send a TR to Monty's capital, and none of the other cities could target the capital. But with Enrico, each of Enrico's cities could target Monty's capital, and Monty could target all 4 city's trade routes to Venice.

Another question, has anyone had an issue where Revolutions are happening almost every other turn in the Ancient Era? I'm sure it's a mod and I'm trying to figure out what it is so I can troubleshoot a separate issue, but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else ran into it.

Regarding Morocco UA, what is required to plunder a trade route? When I play against Morocco, the AI is able to plunder my trade routes. However, when I play as Morocco, I cannot figure out when I have the option to plunder. I can place a unit on top of a foreign trade route that is going to a CS but the option to plunder does not appear. If I declare war, the option to plunder is now available.

I have tried removing all modmods to be safe but it had no effect.

TR send to you cant be plundered so when you play against Marocco use internal or send TR to him.

That part I understand. I have found that internal TR are not safe either. I have seen Morocco park units in spaces between my cities who seem to have no intention other than waiting to plunder my TR. Really impressive AI!

My question pertains to for human players of Morocco. Are there other conditions that prevent me from plundering AI TRs that are not going to one of my cities? I want to be a pirate but am unsure if it is a bug, problem with my VP set up, or I am misunderstanding the UA.

I would like to ask if this is a bug or just a consequence of my settings with while playing Vox Populi. I am reasonably sure that this (possible) bug is not due to modmods for VP.
(If this is a bug, I will look into reporting it, but I wanted to be sure before I did anything.
I was playing a game as Byzantium on a Large Oval Map, with Gamespeed set to Epic.

I had the following modmods installed:

City-States Evolved.
Community Events
Enlightenment Era for VP
Leadership Reformation
Quick Turns
Unique City-States
World Congress Reformation

After founding my religion, the Event Quest Line for my religion began in the Late-Modern/Early Atomic Era around turn 390ish. That's it. It just began really late, so I was unable to enjoy following it through. I'm wondering if this happened because I set it on Epic Gamespeed?

This happened last week. If that's helpful.

I also had around 50-60 cities, does that affect Event timing?

I would like to apologize in advance if I've bloated this with unnecessary information.

Ive noticed the problem as well, but city events should only be less played not player events not sure if it's on the dll side

You will get diplo penalties which will make open borders difficult but in all other respects you can keep on plundering as much as possible.
If land layout allows it its a good source of income.

A couple of (maybe not so quick) questions:
1. Distress
Unhappiness from distress goes up quite drastically after awhile when going wide.
Is this based on empire size/pop?

2. Religion
Tested a bysantium game where I went god of craftsmen, in hindsight it felt crappy, the faith gains from it takes so long time to get.
Any other civ and religion would have been a nope.
Is this one of the worst beliefs or more tailored for Byzantium who always get to found?
I also noted limited growth hit the Basilica faith generation quite a bit but prob good.
Are Byzantium supposed to be able to take enhancer as the extra free belief?

3. Industrial
Noticed archeology/landmark happiness is on the upper part to forcing a choice between better military and more happiness.
Are landmarks supposed to give that much happiness? one in every city for each landmark is a lot.

He is not asking about consequences, he says the button to pillage is not there.

I am currently playing Morocco too, I will check on my end.

Thanks vyyt. Glad someone understood my question.

Adding a picture of my knight on top of an Austrian TR between Linz and Yerevan. I am only able to plunder the TR if I declare war. I loaded the same save with no modmods but had the same issue.

How does capturing a religion work exactly? I captured a holy city of a religion that was the majority religion in every city except my own capital/holy city, and it didn't become my new religion.

The one you founded take higher priority you must take an inqusitior of that other religion and purge your holy city
