Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Just gave up on my first immortal game. I love the late game domination slog but the combat modifiers working against my ranged just got to be obscene. I had an anti-unit artillery with 4+ promotions do 0 damage. 100 turn world wars amounted to 1-2 cities being conquered.

Anybody got tips/settings for an epic speed emperor game that won't be blatantly snowballed/decided before factories? Would stacking a bunch of war monger civs and disabling all other victory conditions work?

There are some issues with city CS in this version that may be affecting this: they're extremely difficult to conquer, and their ranged attack is ineffective. It's been reported on Github.

Can anyone explain to me why CN Tower, unlocked in information era, gives a free Broadcast Tower unlocked in Modern Era.
I feel the free Broadcast Tower is really lack lust. I asked this question before and somebody answered that CN Tower gives free Broadcast Tower everywhere. But I found the tips in game says it only give free Broadcast Tower in the city where it is build.

I always forget this. Does Morocco's unique trade partner benefit work on CS or only other civs?

Is it worth keeping the jungle on a banana tile instead of chopping it down for a plantation?
It’s pretty much always worth it to improve the bananas. The herbalist gives a stronger bonus to plantations than it does to jungles, and you lose 1:c5science: from university, but the plantation’s extra resources more than make up for that.

if you are concerned about losing the 2:c5science: to jungle from rationalism, then perhaps, but you are weighing very late game yields against the bucketload of yields that a plantation would have given on the same tile for several eras previously, unless this banana tile was a very late addition to your empire. If you are a rationalism civ and you claimed the banana tile in industrial I would consider keeping it, depending on my other policy choices. Otherwise, you should always improve

This change was made in the Aug 6 patch, and I believe I’m the one who gave you the wrong info. Sorry bout that.

yes, if you are the kind of civ that wants CN tower then you are the kind of civ that already has a broadcast tower in that city, because you are trying to win a CV and you can’t afford to delay that building a full era.

consider the free broadcast tower a flavor-booster, because the irl CN tower is a broadcast tower. It’s like the wall on the Great Wall. maybe we should ace it entirely, however, I dunno.

No need to be sorry.
I found out that the broadcast tower is 2 era earlier than CN tower. I don't think this design makes sense.

A lot of Wonders have free buildings, I think it's fine. You don't lose anything, and you get to save on GPT.

However, a free building from two eras prior shouldn't substitute for more meaningful bonuses, obviously. In the case of the CN Tower it's just a cool add-on.

Even when playing progress or authority is it still a good idea to work a merchant/engineer/scientist specialist in any city? Currently I never work any of them, and only ever work culture specialists

Great Engineers are arguably better for Progress/Authority players than Tradition players, since you'll be building most of your Wonders in the capital anyway and Tradition capitals are generally stronger.

Great Merchants' instant WLTKD will have greater effect the more cities you have.

And Great Scientists are generally useful.

I usually work most of the slots in my capital at least, and I usually go for DV so I work several diplomat slots.

Engineers are the lowest priority for me since they give worse yields than mines unless you go artistry, and Great Engineers aren't that strong either.

Is there a way to change Great Scientist instant bonus? Set it lower in later eras, because then we have lots sources of science, from conquest, policies, other instant bonuses, many academies and many more, so that is when you get too much from a GS and at the same time you get many more GS then in ancient, classical and medieval. Is there a possible change in tables or config files?

When/where is the Noble promotion given to diplo units? Can't find info anywhere... Thanks!

I might be completely wrong about this but I think it's the Summer Palace World Wonder, check there.

Correct. Thanks a lot. Thought it was available for all units later on in the game...
BTW not sure if it is my Wonders expanded mod or 3-4 Civ mods or in VP but the Summer palace txt refers to Nobility promotion while it is called Noble promotion in the civilopedia. Cheers!

Is there a UI mod available that puts unhappiness in a sort-able table by type?

[City Name, Total Unhappy, Distress, Boredom, Poverty, etc...]

You can see that under the Happiness Overview on the top panel.
