Just trying to crush bugs with the mod. Its been pretty frustrating actually..I would not want a job doing XML coding LOL. Thankyou for asking.
Indeed, but don't forget that you'll learn from the experience...Just trying to crush bugs with the mod. Its been pretty frustrating actually..I would not want a job doing XML coding LOL. Thankyou for asking.
Don't be. We all have plenty of things to do in life, or games to keep us occupied.....
Sorry its taking so long..
Interesting SOG. Are you making them National Units, where you will only be allowed a certain number (well, with the obvious exception of the zero)?
Hmnn. Re-looking at the list, some of those could be NU. Whereas others wouldn't be. Might be something to consider for a future update. I could probably assist you with quite a few (historically speaking of course) if you decide to go that route. It obviously doesn't need to mimic RI mod, but given the content of this mod, it might be fun to have NU's.
Here is a website I just happened by..The Pagan's Path
I'd suggest at least checking it out..there are 2 units I can see that may apply...
"The Priests and Priestess are next in line. They were the care takers of the temples, sort of the spiritual teachers for the masses and advisors to the law makers and scientists."
....Possibly a battle priest of sorts, Spear/moral bonus/heal
"Some people feel this growing conflict culminated when Atlantean science began splicing cells and genes to 'create' as God would create. But what they created was what we might call mutants. Centurions would be good examples of these experiments.
The half man, half horse beings were cast into the worker classes, but were still held in esteem positions. They took a place in society that was not needed before this time, as guards and guardians for the Priests, Priestesses, Prophets and Prophetess".
....This one is a little more fantasy based.
Anyways there is my 2c![]()
Affirmative. It is a magical metal that is used (and highly sought after) to augment ANYTHING with magic. Wanna a magic flying ship that shoots fireballs while summoning lightning to charge your spider silk sails in order hit warp 5? then this stuff's your Holy Grail.
I used to be a huge TTRPG gamer (20+ years) and I still have all of my reference materials. If your really intent on going this route, then I highly recommend a supplement book called "Rifts; Atlantis" by Palladium Games. You could have an absolute field day for creating all sorts of wonderful stuff for your Atlantis from the wealth of material contained in this book (and the entire RPG series for that matter).
Earthdawn is another TTRPG series that uses Orichalcum in it to manufacture all sorts of stuff that can be used for research material. Ironically, when I used to have time to mod, I actually wanted to create a mod that contained both science and magic. Life got in the way however.
I'll work on some NU's for you over the next couple of days (at least give you some ideas) SOG, and since this is quasi-historical, that will give me a lot more latitude by being able to use the mythos and legends of each civ instead of just historical fact.
As for Atlantis, it's your mod and call, but I highly recommend some research from different source materials. This could really flesh out the civ for one, and two, you could possibly create a scenario where Atlantis is the Billy-Bad-Ass of civ's and players have to survive (or whatever VC's). Just some thoughts.
Another idea, is to give Atlantis the ability to Build cities in the Ocean. This has already been done on Planetfall, so it just be a matter of adding in.
The Orichalcum could be a new ore to add to civ, maybe for all other civs it gives some type of bonus. Maybe +1or +1
, whilst the Atlanteans need it for UU's..plus the bonus. The other civs could use this as trade leverage since Atlantis needs it, where as all other civs it just serves as a bonus to commerce/production.
I'm liking these ideas..alot actually.
Makes me want to add in even more legendary civilizations.
Right now though I'll focus on Atlantis though.
Here are my current thoughts:
-Orichalcum will be a new resource which will be rare and act as both a luxury for all civs and a necessity for Atlantis, giving +2and +2
for each individual resource in the city radius.
Atlantis will have the following Unique Buildings:
-Orichalcum Forge: This will(obviously) replace the forge. In addition to the usual boast to production, this building will also enable the training of Orichalcum Soldiers(for lack of a better name).
-Orichalcum Temple: Gives a bonus to science and happiness in the city. Atlantis does not build any of the usual religious temples.
-Orichalcum Pyramid Factory: Replaces the Factory, allows Atlantian cities to build Orichalcum Jets with the appropriate technology.
All three of these buildings will require access to Orichalcum.
Atlantis will have the following Unique Units:
-Myrmidon: Strong replacement for the Axemen that is amphibious. Only Atlantian UU that does not require Orichalcum.
-Orichalcum Soldier: The standard foot soldiers of Atlantis, replace Archers and in addition to the Archer's first strike ability, Orichalcum Soldiers have Commando and, Amphibious promotions. The downside is the steep unit cost and reliance on Orichalcum for production. Orichalum soldiers attack energy based-staff weapons, and act as Gunpowder units in that respect.
-Orichalcum Priest: These units are skilled commanders and also can build Orichalcum Pyramid Factories instantly in any of your cities, a task that normally would require many turns. These units replace Great Prophets.
-Orichalcum Jet: An early Air Unit buildable by Atlantis. They are weak in terms of power but the very fact of having an airforce so early is a feat by itself.

Atlantis would be an ancient civilization with technology that would not be seen until thousands of years later, whose cultural reach influenced the Minoans, Egyptians and Mesoamerica.
