Author Ray Bradbury has died in Los Angeles at the age of 91.

His daughter Alexandra confirmed that her father died on Tuesday night in Southern California.

Bradbury wrote hundreds of novels, short stories, plays and television and film scripts in a career dating back to the 1940s.

This is it, death finally got him. He was the last great scifi writer from his era and superb author of short stories. R.I.P.

I just read Fahrenheit 451. Bought a very nice edition of it in Miraflores, Peru. A bit overpriced (all of their English books were), but I needed a book to read on the bus/plane/etc. for the duration of my trip and I ended up buying it.

Great read .. this guy will be missed :(

The October Country is one of my favorite collections.

RIP to another of my favorites.

And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

RIP.

Which short story of his do you suggest i read? Haven't read anything by him yet.

Kaleidoscope, The Long Rain, The City, The Rocket, Usher II, The Small Assassin, The Crowd, The Emissary, Skeleton, The Flying Machine, Here There Be Tygers, The Wind, Unterderseaboat Doktor, There Will Come Soft Rains, All Summer in a Day, The Golden Apples of the Sun. They are in no particular order, but I especially recommend The Small Assassin.

He represents 0.001% of today's direct victims of aging-related death. *That* has evidenced itself, again, as our direct enemy.

Rip. :(

RIP

I liked his stories :(

It was his time, but what he did during his time is amazing.

If you like one of his books, then read it all, imagination galore and brave stands on "politics".

He's a Martian now. :)

Kyriakos, since you seem to like depressing stuff, I would suggest "There Will Come Soft Rains." That story is part of The Martian Chronicles anthology, although it doesn't take place on Mars. You might find it in a different anthology, since it can stand alone.

I remember "All Summer in a Day" from a reading class in junior high. It's waaaay dated now, given how planetary science has progressed, but it's still a good story.

"The Fog Horn" makes me cry. Every time. :(

Something wicked this way comes....
