What do you guys think of this?

Racist Chess?

A devoted chess player named Bill Ware believe chess as it is currently played is racist and wants to change the rules to eliminate it, according to the Southern Digest, the student newspaper at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.

Ware says the fact that white moves first and black is forced to play defense "states that white is better than black" and represents a form of racism.

His solution is Algebra Chess, in which the white and black pieces are replaced by pieces of different colors and the determining factor on who moves first depends on what square the queen sits on.

I thought this would be the right forum.

Colours are colours people are people, you cannot combine the two, the person who believes chess is rascist is just out for sympathy and wants more power himself, HE's the racist!

I think we can explain this kind of reasoning with the following simple statement:

"People are stupid."

That is plain stupid who thinks chess is rascist? 1) The colors were just picked because they are opposite colors 2) Itsn't black sometimes red? Also, the kid wants it to be algebra. Bah, I get enough math in school!

that is so stupid. chess isnt racist, chess was created by the indians. they werent racist twards blacks back then.

Well...

The Indian "untouchables" were generally the darkest skinned... I'm not sure when chess was invented, but in Mughal India, the lighter-skinned invaders from the north assumed the highest castes and subsequently, the darker skinned natives formed the lower castes. (Also, I think there was a period in Indian history when the Arabs held the highest positions)

Quite stupid I say, the chess peices need to be black or white in order to tell who is who in the game, and also makes the game friendly to colorblinded individuals

I've played Jim Crow chess, and the rules there are racist. But I think regular chess is fine.

Well, if that guy's complaining, why can't he use tan and green pieces like one I have on my computer? Or make his own rules saying that black moves first? Besides, black moves last can be taken as black is the last survivor.

I would not dignify that reasoning with an answer.
If you call this dignifying it then so be it: :twitch: :dubious: :shakehead :crazyeye:  :rotfl:
