I've searched the forum pretty carefully but my results are posts for 'leaderheads' which I am not currently interested in. Ramses (with grey robe and staff) spawned in one of my games and I don't understand how to recreate this in other games. I understand that he somehow leads my army into battle but the details are a bit elusive.

Where would I find detailed information on why and when he spawns and what to do with him?

Please pardon me if this should have been posted in another forum or not at all. Thanks for any help that you can provide. :)

Edited to bold the foremost concern. :)

that's what i'm thinking too, that ramses is a "great leader". if this is the case then he spawned when one of your elites won a battle. hence, to recreate this you want to do what you can to maximize the number of times elites do battle. i won't get into this in detail, but for starters i would recommend attacking only easy targets with your elites so that you don't lose them as fast as you get them.

and what to do with ramses? you can rush improvements or wonders (only small wonders in C3C version) or you can bring them to a city and build (press B) an army. load units into the army with the L key.

I am not sure it he is a military or a science leader. If it spawned in the capiol, it came from being first to research a tech an is an SGL.

If it came from combat and this is Conquest, then it is an MGL. If it came from combat and this is not Conquest, then you only have Learders and they can do the same as either SGL or MGL.

That is they can rush wonders or structures or create an army, but must be in a town.

In conquest you have two kinds of leaders and the MGL cannot rush a great wonder, but can rush small wonders and some other items. It can also make an army.

The SGL can rush great wonders, but not make an army.

In all versions, a leader prevent another leader from spawing, expect the SGL (only Conquest). IOW if you are in CivIII or PTW, you need to use the leader, befoe you can get another.

If you are in Conquest, that is only true for the MGL, not the SGL.

"except" the SGL.

I checked, Ramses is an Egyptian MGL

No except, having and SGL will stop you from getting another MGL. I believe that is what I said, I hope it was. The check is make for a leader and if one exist, no leader from combat. Hence no mgl, if either an mgl or an sgl.

That check is not done for sgl, only combat, so you can get more sgl's. BTW the AI can rush great wonders with mgl's or sgl's, only humnas cannot.

In fact I said it twice.
