I find it odd your soles aren't sown into your shoes .. :undecide:

It Just Works™
Birth rates for millenials have plummeted and people wonder why. We're paying massively inflated housing costs to the boomers who own all the housing stock, we've got suppressed wages from decades of unchecked greed from businesses owned by the boomers and we've got tens of thousands of dollars in debt picked up because the boomers decided to pull support from universities to keep their own taxes low. And none of these issues are being addressed by our government which instead decided to pass a massive tax cut for rich people (boomers again) while simultaneously eroding what little social safety net the US has.

Based on personal observation, the use of glue is more prevalent.

I guess I'm really talking about insoles that usually come with athletic shoes, not the actual soles, if that makes more sense. My work shoes don't have insoles.

Hiking and work shoes typically don't have them sown in because a lot of people replace them. You could probably get some sown in but that sounds like effort.

And if Lexicus is anything like me, the cost of getting the soles sown in would probably be close to the cost of new shoes.

Boomers will insist that capitalism is the only system that lets people follow their dreams, then when you are $100,000 dollars in debt for your art degree they'll call you stupid and say you shouldn't have gotten such a useless degree if you wanted a good life

If you invest 100k in an art's degree, you're not exactly the smartest kid on the block.

Well I am a boomer but that doesn't change the fact. If you've got the 100k and you love art, that's one thing, but if you have to actually make a living then you should more seriously consider your life choices.

Does capitalism allow you to follow your dreams?

Within reason. You example is not reasonable. ;)
There is nothing to say that you can't follow a career in art without investing 100K.

Capitalism punishes stupidity. (at least most of the time anyway)

The point you're missing is that capitalism is the reason you're paying $100,000 for a degree in the first place.

But the decision was made under those rules so that point isn't of concern to me.
If the system was different then I wouldn't be calling it a stupid decision.

K well you missed the point of the meme. And in the process you proved the point of the meme. Thanks, and have a blessed day

Thank you, every day alive is a blessing.
And thanks for ignoring reality.

As a boomer I am willing to take responsibility for having somehow taught the millenials that they absolutely must have a degree no matter what they intend to do with their lives.

I won't. I have a lot of friends that didn't get a degree that have considerable more money than I do.
They understood the system and made good choices.
But I think a degree is the better play. (since working for a corporation is probably a safer path)
And during my entire career hiring developers, I've probably hired 50/50 degree/no degree so I haven't taught anybody that lesson.

Oh dear, you think eating two prunes a day is too much? I've been having regularity problems for a couple months now, I don't know what else to do. I'll talk to my doctor next time I go in for my physical.
Porridge or bran flakes for breakfast. Or drink prune juice in the morning (half a cup should be enough just to maintain regularity).

Socks keep you too warm .. would you wear gloves indoors?
I had to several nights ago. There was no other way to keep my hands warm.

And yet, collectively, it seems that we did. I never pushed degrees with my kids either, but in a generational sense it did happen.

Maybe but it could be viewed as greed by the next generation.
For the boomers, a trade was an acceptable career. The next generations seemed to look down at them and thought that they were better than that and deserved more rewards. So maybe we tricked them but they may have tricked themselves. But then I'm old and rant alot. ;)
