Don't get me wrong, right-wing gender politics are more terrible than either, there's no question about that, but they're simple, almost crude, they can't hope to rival the Lovecraftian geometry of somebody announcing themselves a genderqueer Marxist-Leninist.

You may think it is funny, but i find it disgusting that he is making use of his privilege due to being white, to pass the border to the Usia. I suppose SJW only matters when it is convenient ^_^

Yeah, that's the plan. The former always happens at the two major crossings, the latter at the third one that's a bit out of the way. It's kind of silly that there's such a wide divide in behaviour between stations. It's been a long four years of tweaking my approach as I've honestly developed anxiety over the experience.

Ever since I switched to traveling with an American at the third station it's been stress-free. Especially if the American is a woman. But it still hangs over my head because of all the past experiences.

A secondary benefit of the third station is that you aren't surrounded by people with assault rifles, which I find rather nice as a Canadian.

They frown on people who don't have a tied-down workplace and are on government benefits. And by "frown on", I mean they heavily imply or outright say you're trying to become an illegal immigrant to leech from the glorious American state.

Doing local print magazine work solved the workplace problem but there isn't really a way out of the benefits problem.

The last time I crossed the border was at a tiny little station to an island between Maine and New Brunswick. They weren't at all concerned about the crap you can get bigger places. Was like the old days.

I got McDonalds yesterday so that I wouldn't need to open anything before leaving today and having it spoil while I was away.

It turns out I can no longer eat McDonalds.

At least I lost weight from the ordeal.

But it tastes so good going down! Coming back up again it's not quite as good....
Thats's why i only eat McDonalds a few times a year.

Let's say you're in some sort of a public space waiting for something. A girl is interested in you, so she sort of shuffles around in front of you, makes sure to turn around, basically shows herself off to you.. hoping you'll get interested and start talking to her

But it makes me not want to talk to her. What is she, a mute? Well, I mean, it's possible, but most of the time she probably isn't. Why would I be attracted to somebody who can't show initiative and thinks that the best way to get something is to just stand there and hope for the best?

And I mean, I don't presume to think that each time this happens the girl is interested in me.. but.. a lot of times it's just so obvious.. and annoying. It's happened with girls I know too, instead of going after what they want, they instead make sure I can see them, and then they present themselves and wait. It makes me think that they're morons and makes them look far less attractive.

I've had girls sit down beside me, all dolled up, exposed cleavage, sit down beside me, and (probably) hope I start going after them. Then a couple weeks later stop talking to you because they're so frustrated you didn't do anything. Why would I? You're acting like a moron. That behaviour does not attract me, it does the opposite.

But that's how it goes in the media they consume daily. I remember an ad for Heineken (mediocre beer) in which the joke was that some random bloke in the supermarket was so interested in the very last six-pack that he took advantage of his height to get it over a dolled-up Jennifer Aniston.

@warpus, you're a guy who thinks women should be heard as well as seen. That means you're unlike a lot of the guys that some of these women are familiar with, so they think this is what it takes to get a guy's interest.

I don't know if part of this is because people see it on TV/movies and think it's how dating is supposed to happen. Most of the guys I'm familiar with in the SCA and SF/gaming communities I've been a part of are like you. They prefer women who say what's on their minds instead of standing there and expecting guys to be mind readers, or dancing around the subject instead of just being direct.

It's bizarre that society chastises women for being "too forward" if they speak to a man they don't know, but it's somehow more acceptable to dress up, put on makeup, and display themselves.
