I have a rant about one element of press coverage of the US elections.

Last week, there were two evictions from Trump rallies. At one, people held up copies of the U.S. Constitution, a la Khizr Khan, and as they were escorted out by security, the crowd chanted U-S-A, U-S-A.

At the other, he threw out a crying baby.

The press covered the second eviction extensively. They only just gave a single report of the first one. But the first one seems to me far more meaningful.

I actually have a soft spot for traditional Republican-style patriotism: "America is the best country in the history of mankind." I'll even forgive slight levels of jingoism based on that premise. One reason that I've been able to condone such blind patriotism is that it has always presented itself as being tied to respect for our constitution. (I share with these patriots the belief that the US Constitution is the most brilliant political document ever penned.) So to see USA being pitted against the Constitution was jarring to me and alarming to me and, more to my point here, it felt newsworthy.

But, to my viewing (and I'm viewing pretty much obsessively at this point) nobody picked up on this. Not the more thoughtful commentary shows on MSNBC. Hell, it would seem to me that certain Fox commentators could have been concerned about this.

Nope, the coverage was all about the crying baby.

Side rant: they missed what I think is the key point in the baby incident itself!

Then shouldn't that be a rave? I'm confused.

Your brain is there to make you feel like crap. Take comfort in that it's working as it should. It's when you feel happy and satisfied with life you should start to worry. Statistically, 91% of happiness is cause by a growing inoperable brain tumor.

Oh yes... I went there... You guys walked right into that.;)

Starting to think the subscribers to my channel are a little insincere. I've received a few messages from them saying how they think it's a shame that more people don't subscribe to my channel, yet it's kinda their fault. The best way for a channel to grow is for fans of the channel to get their friends to watch the channel, so they can get their friends to watch it, etc. So if my channel isn't growing, it's because they aren't sharing.

It also rings a little hollow when they say they like my videos but I know for a fact they aren't even watching them. I currently have 24 subscribers, yet my last 6 or 7 videos all have less than 10 views each. That means some of them aren't watching. Now I'm saying my subscribers absolutely must watch every single video I make and love it, but don't tell me you like my videos when you aren't even watching them.

I rented a newer car for the week for $200 so that I could grind out $440 in bonuses this week, promptly fell to fatigue and spent the last 20 hours in bed, 16 of them sleeping. The embedded rave is that I was able to sleep that much and I staved off getting actually sick, but I missed some key commute hours that have to be made up with weekend driving.

he would rather play the video games than be with me sexually

This seems to be a common complaint about male partners. I think a lot of it stems from the simple fact that video games are probably seen as something that gives pleasure without asking for anything in return in terms of emotional commitment.

Not saying that it's right for someone to ignore their significant other for video games, just pointing out that it's hard to compete with something that gives endlessly with no demand or expectation for reciprocation.

EDIT: On that note, I used to say this jokingly, but now I am completely serious when I say the invention of high-quality sex robots may truly lead to the end of humanity. I think the overwhelming majority of people would choose the sexbot over a real person if there were no significant difference between the two since a sexbot would do whatever you want, when you want, with none of the commitment or risks that come with having sex with a real person.

:) What i find funnier is that the guy has the bones/armament/how those are called showing in his Blender render of the horse animation :D

And that the farm, of course, is not a model but just a lazy/cheap UV mapping of a picture of a farm on a plane

:wallbash: one of my colleagues messed up one of his projects quite massively.
Mainly because he forgot some simple sanity check like at the second day of it (...3 years ago; which is the part which annoys me most). Tried now for 3h+ to find out all the sources where it went wrong, at least 2 different ones, as it seems.
The main conclusion of his research might still hold, as we currently guess, but oh boy, what a *feces*.

Sort of related second rant: I always manage to attract more work, although I don't want to. I think I know too many people, who tend to give me work :gripe:.
