Random Rants : Someone is wrong on the Internet

Why wont my GP believe me that I think my stomach issues may also be causing an increased senstation of hotness without a fever?

I shouldn't feel this hot all the time at 20-24 degrees.

Because the digestives system is a complete mystery to most doctors, in spite of the fact it is where all our food goes through and thus all of our energy comes from, but we know next to nothing abut the health of the digestive system. The reason is simple ignorance, since most can't be bothered to find out why.

Problem in this case is also that you cannot measure how hot you feel. Else that might be different.

Damn, I always forget how weird humans are, didn't know that.
I only work with bacteria, and there it most often doesn't make too much of a difference, since all 3 sugars go through the glycolysis, and hadn't considered that this might be different for us.
Bloody biology.

It's more to do with that it's an extremely complicated field. So despite a lot of different research going into this, we haven't begun to fully understand the mystery of the gut.

And my fatigue could be related to the gut as well, but they keep saying no to modafinil.

So weird. It's such a safe drug. Nevertheless, modafinil won't help gut based fatigue beyond a marginal (if still helpful) amount. Get a high quality probiotic and work your way up to a quite large dose. I bet it'll make a bigger difference a month or two down the line.

All I used my PC for today was writing up my c.v, and it still cooked my room up to 32 deg c.

IM BURNING INTO ASHES :(

Part of the problem is that we have known some things about the gut for well over 100 years and yet very little research into the area was done until about few decades ago. From what I have found many of th earliest research was basically done in ignorance and too many assumptions were being mad. I mean the CDC only recently in the last decade put blastocystis and a disease causing parasite, before that it wasn't consider harmful, thus denying the potential to have a serious look into it.

My rant is that I have the man flu.

Bad cybrx! Don't you remember Zoe de Valois, empress of Byzantium? You should, because one appears every time you visit PI forums.

Uh no, but Agnes, the sister of Philip II "Augustus", was a genuine French princess who briefly became Empress-consort in the East before the iniquitous Fourth Crusade.

What I will try to imagine now is that every time I go into a PI forum thread that I know is filled with flame wars, the good, spiritual merit of one Xwedodah is neutralized.

Rant: One of my good friends is going to South Korea for over a year. I mean, I wish him well, but it is a buzzkill.

@cybrx: How bad are the flame works at PI? I know the ones at TWC are pretty bad (I felt dirty just lurking in their OT).

To be fair it does depend on where you go (and once you've visited a subforum frequently enough you should be able to easily tell which threads are trouble) as some places are relatively civil and rarely have any flaming, such as some of the modding subforums (other than potential modder drama, but that's to be expected, PI or not). However, sometimes if you're unlucky and/or unaware and/or sadistic you'll stumble on bad threads and they really vary from subforum to subforum.

For instance, troublesome topics specific to the CKII subforum include the possibility of adding China and the rest of Asia to the game (expect pages of back and forth arguments between people who think adding in China is a great idea, and people who think adding China is problematic; oftentimes decent arguments are thrown on both sides, but it just gets ugly eventually); the skin tone of certain portrait DLCs ( when the Mediterranean portraits first came out there was a thread complaining about it that ended up one of the biggest non-generic threads ever; except racist stuff and "those people aren't white enough/are too white!"); and Hellenic pagans (not as bad nowadays, again, but back in its heyday the threads also grew heavily in size). Now that's not to say these positions are necessarily bad or good per se; for instance in the China debates I lean in the "anti-China" camp (ie don't want China added to the game), but I honestly don't get involved because the fights just end up between fanboys who insult anyone who disagrees with them on one end, and fanboys who insult anyone who disagrees with them on the other end.

In the EUIV subforums you get into arguments about whether the Western nations/Europe is too ahistorically powerful, which eventually leads to flamewars that deal things like people claiming the Amerindians were barbaric savages, or someone claiming Frederick the Great could've easily conquered China with 20k men, some racist and ultranationalist nonsense, and other ugliness. I don't go to the EUIV forums much so I'm not as aware of what other topics there are, but there you go.

Of course, sometimes people start flamewars over game mechanics that they like or don't like (often about bugs, or new features added in DLCs, or balancing issues - real or not), and those get pretty ugly too.

All in all, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. With a bit of luck and skill, any thread can devolve into a proper flame war. Except maybe 4 chan. But I have heard that even 4 chan has its weird, unspoken code of conduct and order-within-the-chaos, so to speak.

To be fair, though, I think it's easier to start a TES-related flamewar on the right TES-related sites if you say the wrong things, but PI forum ones can get ugly.

Dude, don't drink so much at parties that you don't know who's going to bed with you afterwards
