I just saw "The Mist" and now I'm depressed

My girlfriend saw it and I believe it was pretty different from the book in its ending. I suppose that's to be expected, though.

Haven't read the book, but I think they just drive off don't they?

What happens in the movie:
Spoiler :
Quick summary: A thick mist comes, people hold up in a grocery store after some guy says theres something in the mist. Freaky stuff happens, kid taken away by tentacles from an open garage door, huge flying bugs come, bigger flying things come take them, crazy lady says its god, starts a cult, people are freakin wierd, yada yada yada, people die, freaky spiders, soldier says that nearby base had scientists trying to open window to parallel dimension, creatures come from there. Why they are all huge and blood-thirsty, I don't know. A few people run out to a car and drive, mist is everywhere, run out of gas, decide to take their own lives than be torn apart, 4 bullets, 5 people, our hero ends up killing them (with their consent) and his own son, who he's been trying to save the whole time, he gets out of the car, tries get killed, army comes- he killed his own son and friends (and a new love interest!) a minute before that, and breaks down. Why am I upset? Who kills a little boy! Alien things were cool though. Don't cough up $9, steal it.

She was quite upset over that scene:

Spoiler :
Shooting that boy, I mean, since she said the way it was done was over the top. I'd have to see it to make sense of that, though.

Wonder how it will do in the box office profits.

It was a sucky way to end a movie for sure. The place was pretty well stocked, but its only been out a few days anyway. Other people thought it was good because "it takes balls to end a movie like that" but it just seemed, like your girlfriend said, over the top.

I broke up with my gf, i'm sick and depressed and life is against me...

Oh, wrong tread.
Spoiler :
:p:p:p:p:p:p

Maybe that's because you're a spammer.

I've joined in the same month as you and have only half of your posts!

I saw that on Thanksgiving, and it was pretty depressing. (I saw the ending coming, though :crazyeye: )

And then I went home and watched Premonition. (In my defense, the CD drive was broken and I couldn't play Civ4! I don't usually watch Sandra Bullock movies  ) And that was kind of depressing too, especially the ending.

It was a good Thanksgiving, but somehow I ended up watching all the non Thanksgivingish movies.
