Random Thoughts XV: Temere Cogito, Ergo . . .

If Phil is free to move he can decide his own fate. Why do I have to make all the decisions?

Because you will be blamed if Phil's massive body kills the people below, so the police won't suspect it was his plan all along.
But if I’m dead from the oncoming trolley why would I care about the legal ramifications?

You wouldn't. So the real choice might be if you will die a pawn of Phil, or have Phil die next to you. And you aren't certain if he is a demon or just a plump innocent.
Anyway, the trolley can't climb that bridge as it is. I'd stay immobile and risk it.

Lol ^^
Although I doubt he is strong enough to push his friend, so it all rests on the latter. Not that the trolley is going to climb that bridge anyway, so it may all be an/even more of an excuse to murder.

The incline of that bridge is too steep for the trolley to get up onto it, and it won't reach the two on top.

Pondering how some translations can go awry on package labeling (I just might hesitate before buying this, whatever it is):

2. Made in Turkey
3. Made in a turkey

SGA is a great player no doubt. Those herky jerky hesi drives, the ability to draw contact, the strength and body control to finish through the contact, the mid-range game, and he’s pretty good on D as well. One of the best seasons of all-time by a guard. We’re talking MJ, Kobe levels here.

That being said Jokic should have been the MVP. He’s clearly the best player in the world and has been for 5 years now. He does everything for Denver. Scoring, play-making, rebounding. The dude averaged a triple double as a CENTER. Just unheard of. More than anything he just makes the right decision more than any other player. That’s his superpower. Knowing what to do, when to do it, and then doing it. I just can't fathom anybody watching that Denver-OKC series and come away thinking SGA was the better player.

And that brings me to the way MVP voting is done in the NBA. Voting is done by members of the media and the media loves stories. They reward players on teams that win. The best player on the team with the best record? Great story. The best player on a team that's the 4th seed, when they would be a lottery team without them? Meh. They reward players on teams that exceed expectations. Increase your win record by 10 from last year? Awesome. Win about the same amount? You need to do better. Sustained excellence is boring. Individual greatness takes a backseat to team based narratives despite the fact the MVP is an individual award. It's explains why Karl Malone won MVPs over MJ, why Nash won over Kobe, why Kobe won over Chris Paul, why D. Rose won over Lebron. There are numerous other examples.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

According to far-east ancient legend (also mentioned by Borges in his book about imaginary creatures) in the middle of the (inferred: pacific) ocean there was a gigantic three-legged donkey. Perhaps this description implied that the ocean is so vast that you won't even get near enough the center to notice something itself of monumental size.

True or not, it is a good story:

400 passengers and only 200 dinners were loaded onto the Helsinki - Toronto flight. The airline made a mistake and the crew was in a difficult position!

However, a clever flight attendant had an idea! About 30 minutes into the flight, she nervously announced:

"Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know how it happened, but we have 400 passengers on board and only 200 dinners! Anyone who is kind enough to give up food for someone else will have free and unlimited alcohol during the entire flight!"
Her next announcement was made 6 hours later: "Ladies and gentlemen, if anyone wants to change their mind, we still have 200 lunches!"

Moral of the story: drinkers have very big and kind hearts!

Moral of the story: almost anyone would rather have a drink than airplane food.

I was at a work meeting today and there were two people sitting at the table who I always thought was the same person. I am 100% sure that I have passed them both in the hallways and said hi before, thinking it's the same person. Tomorrow I'm going to have to go through the work directory to crack this case

The embarassing (?) part of this is that there are like 15 of us in our department. Some people you just don't work with, or see much, but still..

Why did they have to look so alike
