Random Thoughts XV: Temere Cogito, Ergo . . .

I miss sideways-amadeus.

Bare minimum, we should all do that for April Fool's day, since the switcheroo has fizzled.

wasn't planning to post for awhile . The British are insisting their hold on this country kept on , have been on Musk's sh.tlist for awhile to the extent of his offer of support to Lockmart while Lockmart was not demanding such a thing because let us say Lockmart is a better student of history and so on . Wish you happy times in mock resistance to Trump and this country is not of 40 million Turks .

so , while aiming to post in some big wall of text eventually , that other group will soon be crushed again in an election jihad . Google is full of BSSS ruining the Kurds back in 2019 as BSS .

"How a human being could have attempted such a book as the present without committing suicide before he had finished a dozen chapters, is a mystery. It is a compound of vulgar depravity and unnatural horrors."

- Contemporary review for Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights

A lot of contemporary reviews had a similarly shocked tone, which is fair considering nothing like it had ever come up in the relatively genteel world of Victorian literature.

Here's another favourite one of mine, from this site:
We rise from the perusal of Wuthering Heights as if we had come fresh from a pest-house. Read Jane Eyre is our advice, but burn Wuthering Heights….

> ‘the relatively genteel world of Victorian literature’

In which e.g. Jane Austen implies either rape or at least statutory rape by Willoughby in ‘Sense and Sensibility’.

Still relatively genteel. There's a world of difference between Wuthering Heights and Sense and Sensibility
