Rant about US foreign policy

Semantics, semantics.

For the time being, the people you describe are de-facto anti-Americans, because the United States is currently undertaking the foreign policy that they dislike.
Completely wrong. I dislike your foreign policy, a lot, but Im not anti-American at all. I don't want you to fail in Iraq, I don't wish harm upon your nation, I don't automatically thinks the worst of Americans (Actually, if you look around in other recent threads, you'll see that I actually defend America in several of them)
Did you ever have a friend who did something you thought was wrong? I have a friend who is pro Bush for an example, but Im not anti my friend. I just dislikes this particular opinion of his.

Indeed. I've visited the US before for 5 weeks, and I'm coming over again in the new year. I also hate the US Administration and their foreign policy. By your standards I am anti-American. :crazyeye:

Tell me, are you of those people who think your own countrymen are anti-American when they protest against the war? Am I also anti-British for hating what my own government is doing?

This is actually one instance where rmsharpe is not insulting the French. "Belly of the beast" is an American expression that means "in the center of something" or "in the area of largest concentration". As a Frenchmen, you are in fact in the area with the largest concentration of Frenchmen.
Sorry, I didn't get it was an expression. :( Hey, English isn't my mother language.

But, of course, as a European, you already knew that...
Well, you see : No. I, as a European, don't know everything in the world. I already know that Bush is doing terrible in Iraq, that's a beginning. ;) The difference between you and me may be that I want to learn everyday. I see by your latest remark that you're about to write down things you don't think, so the argumentation will fall in quality from now on.

You are correct, it is only part of the US. I have a secret, though; it is most of the US.
Not what I seem to see, according to November's elections. :( I'd like the USA to be cool and all, but today that's rather the opposite.

I don't understand this... You don't like the part that is hyped up to do something? I'm gung-ho for change, do you not like me because I'm enthusiastic? Do you mean you aren't ever excited about anything?
I meant "willing to go to war in any way". This is what I meant by "gung-ho". Sorry if I misused it, I'm learning, I like the English language.

And SN, if you could just one day quit with your obsolete Realpolitik attitude !!! ;) That would do good for you. I for one play Diplomacy (and use Realpolitik as a program for it), the game ; but you're more into real things, uh ?

 So you need to be 100% supportive of everything american or else you're anti-american?

Is this the logical extension of "if you're not with us, you're against us"?

I don't like US Farm subsidies. What camp does this leave me in?

A concentration camp :p
Nah just kidding, you have till sunday to catch the first plane out.

And Europeans don't know America well. 25% of Germans believe that the U.S. government was involved in 9/11.
The actual question was:
Asked whether they believed that the U.S. government could have ordered the September 11 attacks itself, 31 percent of those surveyed under the age of 30 in the poll answered "yes", while 19 percent overall gave the same answer.
(bolding mine)
And another thing, the only thing I found about that is always the same Reuters article, not that I don't trust Reuters, but I found it odd that only one article had been written and just copy pasted a few dozen times on the net.

That's because Kerry was such a bad option. It's almost cynical to think that the fact that he ran as the Anti-Bush gave Bush a significant Anti-Kerry status. One of the greatest backfires in history of American Politics.

No problem. That's why I didn't really try to debate your stance, just asked what you meant.

Bump

What did the "Agree with us 100%, or you're anti-American" people have to say about our replies?
